OHM Crew Dragon for Orbiter2016

I can help with the windows if you need.
Hi Don, if you can make window holes in the outer shell (inner shells are done) that would be great. I found that whatever I did, the external normals didn't look right (to the point of being unacceptably wonky). As I previously mentioned, I think I can make the windows work by arranging the mesh and group sequence correctly (but this impacts on animations, mesh deletions etc. so I haven't got around to it yet!). Anyway, if you have any success making window holes, drop me a line :-)EDIT: Problem solved! See post below....

@francisdrake - Thanks for the detailed post! Yes, I use the Boolean functions for making window holes too. Works pretty well most of the time. For some reason not working for me in this instance.

Cheers,
BrianJ

@Donamy - Don't worry about making holes! The mesh-group-sequencing method works fine. Just need to do the Hatch window now....

I do't think the capsule has a window in the hatch now. If it does, it is round and not oval. Pretty sure.

Good point, think you're right. Will check how it looks.

I'm reworking the mesh now. The thruster locations are different on it now also.

OK! Well done

Let us know how it's going.

Had to tidy up a few loose ends on this version....

Update 180828 on OH:
Windows transparent from external view. Removed hatch window.
Fixed control-panel-switch-not-animated bug.
Removed apparent size changes during chute deployment (I found it distracting).

Possibly last update on this version?
Cheers,

Working on new thrusters for crewed dragon2. I can make the windows clear easy. I had them opaque in the pad test version, because they were just decals.

Here's a shot. Will need new texturing to match, and a bigger and different drogue chute door. Notice the increased size of the main chute door on the bottom also.

Oh, this looks FANTASTIC! I'm going to give it a shot sometime this week! Just had a presentation on Crew Dragon, so the urge to fly it has been building! :)

@pappy2 - glad to see you got it to rotate. Thanks for the pics :-)

@Astrozeke - hey, hope you have some fun with it. Looking forward to seeing the real thing on the pad

@Donamy - Looks great Don,do you think you will do anything to the trunk or interior?

@pappy2 - Do we know the "correct" orientation of the Dragon relative to IDA?
Do you have information about this?

I can change the docking port orientation (and "lidar" position), no problem, but this may affect docking to "standard" ISS dock port (will be a strange angle).

I'm not sure how to resolve this - suggestions welcome :-)

Cheers,
BrianJ

this looks really good. you might think about a view from the lower bay where you could look out the windows and see so of the soft cargo bags behind and around the sides

@Brian

Let me know if you need anything updated for the Crew Dragon.

Also, as pappy2 describes, the IDA line up on the ISS A2Z is correct.

Thanks Don.

I'm sure you're both correct about the IDA orientation relative to the ISS PMA.
And my IDA.cfg does have the "modified" dock parameters from post#26 in the thread above, as pappy2 noted.

It's just that if I rotate the Dragon docking port, then users without IDA will be docking to the ISS PMA at a bit of an angle.

How about user-configurable docking port parameters in the Dragon .cfg file?

Cheers,
Brian

EDIT: hi, pappy2, thanks for the pics! I see what you mean.

 But it is not a good idea to dock the PMA without IDA..

Oh, I do it all the time ;-)

Ok, so I think I'll go with the user-configurable docking port via .cfg file idea.

If we want to replicate the Dragon-IDA-PMA orientation shown in the "artist impression" I'll need to rotate the Dragon default dock by 180deg anyway.

And I need to re-do the glass-cockpit view point.

Update soon.

Cheers,
Brian

I did some attempts at launching the Dragon capsule from the Moon, and I think it's powerful enough for a very low orbit (~20km).
But needs very good ascent guidance (can't be hand guided ;) )

Has anyone tried something like that?
