BrianJ submitted a new addon:

Hera - Hera spacecraft and cubesats, asteroids Didymos and Dimorphos.

View attachment 40772
The Hera, Milani and Juventas spacecraft, asteroid Didymos and its moonlet Dimorphos.
Launch and post-launch scenarios in "Hera" folder.

Scenarios use custom Solar system config file "Sol_HERA.cfg" which includes default Orbiter2016 planets and Didymos/Dimorphos.

Launch scenario requires:
Falcon9 for Orbiter2016

There y'go...gold MLI on the bottom face...update 241007 now uploaded
HGA looks about OK to me (funny perspective on that photo I think)

Got a bit of a "jitter" on the solar arrays - I'll fix it when I can.

Is it going today? Weather wasn't looking good...off to check :-)

Cheers,
Brian

Yeah, there's a strong hurricane approaching Florida this week....might affect Hera's schedule if it gets a lot worse.... it has delayed Europa Clipper already

Anyways, the launch livestream just started as of this writing:

Going well so far....
Annoyed I can't watch the SpaceX webcast....neither of my browsers will work with it, or I need an X account or something....watching ESA instead.
Waiting for the escape burn.

Success! Hera is on her way (y)

Heh...I got to Didymos already...
I like it when I can complete the voyage in one go, straight off the pad :)
IMFD Course "Target Intercept" for the escape burn from parking orbit, targeting Mars midday 12 March 2025.
hera_mars.jpg
TransX sling past Mars to intercept Didymos late 2026, minimising insertion velocity.
IMFD Course "Delta Velocity" to time the insertion burn at Didymos.
Arrived (overshot by 20km) with ~680m/s dV still left in the tanks.

Love this sim(y)

Thanks Barry, the attached "hera_patch.zip" includes a Mars flyby scenario using the JPL Horizons data - great idea because you get a really nice flyby of Deimos (which I didn't manage on my attempt).
The .zip also has new launch scenario (autopilot set for 165 x 195 km), new Hera module which fixes the solar panel jitters, new gold MLI normal map.
Install over Hera version 241007.

New complete version update will be up soon.

Cheers,
Brian

After NASA's DART impact, what will ESA's HERA see?
Vote! => Will Hera see a crater, a basin, global deformation, or no Dimorphos? https://www.menti.com/al1pigjpqnty
and GO HERA!

(poll created by the HERA community, hope it's still open)

I voted "Basin".
Maybe with a diffuse cloud of co-orbiting chunks and gravel?
Would be cool if it formed a ring ;-)

Very nice and feature-rich addon!

Just a small request:
Using the Shift modifier key for the reaction wheel control intercepts the Shift-commands of the MFDs.
So the MFDs can only be mouse-controlled.
Would it be possible to change that to Ctrl+NumPad?

Hi,
good point. Ctrl+NumPad will interfere with the RCS "Fine" control - so I switched to Alt.
Alt+NumPad = Reaction Wheels
Alt+NumPad5 = KillRot
I hope that doesn't block anything else :-)
New hera.dll module attached to this post. I'll update the main package soon.
Cheers,
Brian
