So then, it's requested to add some Sabre spawnpoints?

Server is up. But I reduced the amount of slots to 8, in the hope to prevent experienced lag with a lot of players.

Unfortunately, a cold front came in overnight and the weather has deteriorated. ;)

Next try to get 1 GB of data here...

I'll get on if it's up. Going somewhere in a few hours, I didn't expect to have time but here I am.

Can you please give me some feedback, if the glitchiness went away with me logging off? If yes, the problems with my ISP are still annoying... will look for it.

Even though you were not the only one I saw lagging (which might also indicate that I may have had some problems on my end), your lag was by far the most severe.

I had a ping of 91 in the lobby, quite possible.

It showed in my scores that Swift and Nik had a ping of more than 200. I never experienced one of you guys lagging. But could also be server side. Can't tell...

Was a nice round! But when I lost my third Su-25T due to bad maneuvering, pilot error and CFIT, I stayed on the ground. And this resulted in a hilarious post-flight-overfatigue-mess-around. ;-D

I saw ping over 300 when joining, and basically the same in past sessions. I don't know how the ping is that high or how there's not more lag issues because of it. But yeah, if your ping was 91, your ping was not the problem.

Yeah my ping was around 250 but I didn't experience any serious lag. Maybe a second or two when someone joined. I don't remember seeing Urwumpe in F2 view specifically, but I didn't see any of that "jumping" aircraft stuff I see on servers sometimes. I didn't see any difference before or after he logged off either.

The higher ping was probably due to you being much further away.
I normally see a ping of 120 or so ms to Richy's server.

The weather has also been interesting: as you can see, here is a screenshot of Urwumpe.

On an unrelated note, today I tried for the first time to fly the Su-25, something I had never done: have to say, from a handling perspective it is much less forgiving than the A-10, but can also be quite a bit faster.

While one flies like an oversized jet-powered Cessna 172, the other for example needs a much higher angle of attack at landing, while being faster.
I am however impressed by the huge variety in weapons it can carry.

The weather had been so bad, it was even raining inside the hangar.

Ah! Sweet!

No, I have not got it yet, but had to look at the model. I am not going to be able to say no to this one; it is probably my all time favorite from the history of combat aircraft. The D/K variants would have been nice for the DCS environment, with radar and afterburner, coupled with the Mig-17 as AI to keep the opponents "competitive", or even the Fury to add another navalized aircraft, but I am not complaining at all. I am definately up for it when I can foresee some time ahead to be able to try it out, as it has, as far as I know, been an aircraft sadly neglected in combat sims (exception I remember was an odd split screen MP simulator called "Evasive Action", years ago).

This particular DCS update caused me some trouble. I kept getting messages to the effect that the server was saturated, or that my firewall was causing the download to halt. I disabled real-time MSE temporarily and checked the firewall. It seems I never had DCS as an exception. I can handle firewall exceptions on Linux, but Windows 7 lack of "transparency" (at least from my archaic, needing-to-use-the-console point of view) on this baffles me a bit. The update was accomplished in about ten attempts. It just leaves me wondering;

A. How did it update before I had the exception?

B. Would that lack of an exception in the firewall have been the reason that I never stayed on an any MP server for more than a maximum of 5 minutes before it dumps out? How was I even managing to connect to MP?

I am still thinking about buying it, since my financial situation looks a bit more favorable than planned... But 40 € is still a lot of money even for such a great looking and really well done fighter jet.

So after testing DCS since one week a bit (With FC3 and A10C), my mind is that it's the most realitic military flight simulator of all time (Maybe Falcon 4.0 is almost similar realistic, but a bit out of date ;-) ). I had a lot experience with ED Sims since "SU-27 Flanker", which is my favorit aircraft even in FC3. Now I have 2 or 3 questions regarding this great sim, before I maybe spend more money (Sorry for asking here because until now I havn't used the ED forum :tiphat:)

- I read about DCS 2.0, would it be an update and will all DCS 1.x modules work on DCS 2.0 (If someone knows) or is it a complete new sim and not working with old modules?

- What is "DCS WW2 Europe 1944", will it be a module for DCS or is it a seperate flight simulatior or just another "map" and will DCS 1.x modules work on it?

- Are "Steam Server" and "Normal Server" compatible? Because I couldn't find Richys server, but maybe it was offline... And is it true that there is no "search function" for the server in the multiplayer mode or am I just unable to find it?

by what I know... yes, it will be compatible.

It is a project for add-ons, but I can't tell you, how exactly it is going to be released. It will be for DCS 2.0, so what applies to DCS 2.0 will likely also apply to it.

I haven't found a way to search servers. It won't sort them either. I have to scroll and look at every sever name to find Richy's server. Maybe I'm doing it wrong too.
Servers and even clients should behave the same whether Steam or not.

An AI FW 190 just shot down an AI Mig 21 Bis....
