Looks like I can test a whole mission now. I already had some vertical-dive-into-ground-on-final-approach situations while correctly set up for manual control, I'll take a closer at that look now.

The only other things I noticed so far, both in my usual and a clean Orbiter:
  • Air Data Probes are set to DEPLOY in some launch scenarios
  • Wing text seems to be INOP here
 
So I managed to engage the entry DAP but the plane just keeps rolling on 0 deg. pitch. It doesn't do anything else. MM304 is entered, DAP is set to A/AUTO/PRI. Is this a fault in the scenario or in a bug.

Make sure that the PITCH and ROLL/YAW PBIs on the glareshield is set to AUTO/AUTO and not CSS.

That was a lovely first complete flight (STS-126, 8 hours, no docking)!
Once in orbit I powered up the RMS and grappled the OBSS to move it around.
I still have to get used to the controls so I moved the arm to quite extreme joint angles trying to point the OBSS at the Orbiter's nose.
It looks like that was too much, the arm attachment point had a wrong rotation after that. I forgot to take a screenshot of that but a scenario restart fixed it.

Reentry was a overshoot to Venezuela and then undershoot to Texas, but the third try with a deorbit Delta v of -270fps (from ~300km circular orbit with ~550km crossrange) went well.
Still quite good for a quick and dirty AP.
I took control after the HAC and kissed the runway.

Does the AP allow runway/base selection?

Here's a fix for the open barn door (a.k.a. deployed air data probes) either on-orbit or on the launch pad.

Using a text editor, load the offending scenario file. Find and replace THIS:

It is hard coded yet, so you can change it only in source code, then recompile modules.

We should maybe consider putting the landing site data into or near the mission file. It is no big ticket, a simple YAML or JSON file could be enough for letting people edit it themselves and load the data on start up.
 
This addon is truly everything I've been hoping for over the last 4 years watching the development, but seeing as it's an alpha, I noticed a few things that I *think* are bugs (unless they're problems on my end).

I'm not sure whether or not this is related to the fact there's two shuttles in this scenario, or the fact that it's a 39.0 degree inclination mission, but when I try to launch Atlantis in this scenario I get sent into the netherlands of orbiter and then a CTD follows. I think you guys can also figure out what mission I'm trying to do by this as well. :thumbup:

Another bug I notice is that I'm unable to turn off the launch autopilot to avoid the above bug from happening. I press 'B' in flight and the shuttle still hums along straight into oblivion. I also was a dolt and opened the speedbrakes (ctrl-B) by accident, and when I found I tried to close it, the speedbrakes don't close all the way. Seeing as you're not supposed to do that, I will classify that as a 'doh' moment instead of an actual bug.

But other than that, this addon is incredible. It's the closest thing to SSM2007 there is, and it's free and you can make your own missions without having to deal with DLC.
 
Kyle: I tried your scenario and mission file and nothing went wrong at all on ascent. Nominal lift-off, first and second stage ascent followed by a completely nominal MECO with no OMS-1 required.
This was with nothing but SSU elements, the SC3 elements and the GPCMFD entries deleted.

Qs:
  1. Is the bug repeatable on your end with nothing but SSU elements in the scenario?
  2. Did you name your mission file LON-114.cfg and placed it in the Missions\SSU subfolder?

Tip:
Add "CONTEXT SSU" below the Date parameter in the ENVIRONMENT block to load the SSU base files, instead of the default ones.

Interesting, am I reading the wrong instruction manual? Page 7 of the "Space Shuttle Ultra V.1.2.5" says you can toggle the launch autopilot by pressing B.

Much older version - this is 2.0.
 
The SSU 2.0 manual does state that the B key can be used to turn off the autopilot. This is an error in the manual; this was disabled a while ago. The SSU autopilot cannot be turned off during launch.

Arm/press OMS switches are "pull and move", so you basically need to hold LMB and move the switch, then release. To start the burn, you have to press EXEC 15 seconds before TIG (exec starts flashing on the bottom of the screen).

About rendezvous, if you see example entry in scenario that sets rendezvous target, then where is your problem now? Can't you just copy paste and change target name to match your own wish?
