There are no shadows on Vesta. And in Vesta's, terrain, triangles can be seen in the craters. This never happened on any other terrain, not even Phobos. Is Vesta's terrain resolution very low? Phobos is fantastic.

Coming to Deimos, it seems Deimos' visual terrain and collision terrain are not in sync...
Also, something in DG VC seems missing

This looks like the smoothing wouldn't work for some reason... which could potentially be GPU related. anyone able to reproduce this? if yes, what card are you running? I'll go check for myself later today.

Nope, everything looking good with ATI Radeon HD 4550...

I use r9 270x 2gb ddr5. Now using latest omega driver.
Well, this problem does not occur with Phobos or Deimos.
And Deimos' collision does not match with its terrain.

Wow! Just installed the latest beta :) I haven't been anywhere other than LEO and I'm just completely amazed! This is wonderful! Thank you Martin :thumbup:

Just a couple of initial notes:
- At close proximity (~150km) the Earth cloud shadows become another copy of the clouds themselves, as if the shadows were white, or the clouds had doubled.
I can confirm this, see pic below.

This dramatic change in illumination with altitude(on a meander through the Andes) might be related to the above..

Same here, very faint though.

Buildings at KSC are "floating" a few meters above ground.

Frame rate: Lowest was about 60fps in LEO/ low alt.in terrain, highest was 200fps with only DeltaGlider and Sun in view.

No problems with the DeltaGlider in LEO.

Using Windows 8.1, Lo-res texture packs for Earth,Moon,Mars
latest Orbiter build 150307. default graphics client, IntelCeleron G3240 proc.

OK, off back into orbit :)

I noted the simulation time was 884s which matches the logfile.

Is this the right thread to post bug reports on the latest Orbiter beta version?
I can't find a dedicated thread, so here we go.....

Orbiter build 150307, LoRes textures only, default graphics client, terrain and wind enabled.
Windows 8.1, IntelCeleron G3240.



Landing the DeltaGlider on Earth or Moon with more than ~40m/s vertical vel. sends vessel into intergalactic space.

Landing Pads at Brighton Beach are visible through terrain/hills.

Occasional flickering white triangles seen on Landing Pads at Brighton Beach from some angles.

Shadow of monorail at Brighton Beach at 0 alt. (2km above base)

If camera mode is Global/Absolute/TargetRel. and the camera target is a base, you cannot approach the target nearer than the "size" parameter in it's .cfg. i.e. Cannot get nearer than 1km for Cape Canaveral, or 500m for Brighton Beach. This is not the case in "Ground" camera mode.

So I just tried this out and holy crap that took forever to download! But it looks beautiful and I love the new terrain and textures! Just one question though, do mods work with the BETA?

Not all mods work... But BrianJ`s Delta Heavy mostly works. I would suggest to try also DirectX9 client by Jarmonik, featuring, for example, water shaders - the view from Cape Canaveral in morning hours is amazing, sun glare, waves...

- Would it be possible to have separate FOV's for interior and exterior view? With just one FOV setting, zooming in to enjoy the planetary surfaces from orbit needs constantly to be reset when returning to cockpit view to read the instruments.

The Orion capsule works easily with the beta, but tips over heads down after landing. Is the sequence of touchdown points reverted, or is this due to interaction of the size-sphere with the new surface?

I just ran the Beta for the first time and noticed a couple of things:

1. Using Checklist #1, the runway for the KSC does not show up.

2. The throttle on my Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 joystick doesn't do anything.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Orbiter looks like with the new high-res texture packs installed. :)

The lua autopilots dont seem to work for me. DG Atmospheric autopilot doesnot work
Runways dont have ILS. Why was it removed?

Interesting idea! Never thought this could be done with a plugin. Would try it myself, but have no idea where to start ...

You can register a module with a PostStep function that checks oapiCameraInternal, oapiCameraMode, oapiCameraTarget and perhaps oapiCockpitMode together with an internal map to give each view type a specific FOV via oapiCameraSetAperture. I'd also do edge detection (i.e. when one of the mode functions changes from one step to the other) in order to save changes the user made to the FOV via oapiCameraAperture.

Seems like it got moved from TileMgr.cpp to VPlanet.cpp in r31.

I love it so far! Will BOTH launchpads be included in the final Canaveral.cfg?

It would be cool to see Martin outsource things for the CFG file like the other launchpads, a countdown clock, etc.

How are planet-meshes handled in the new sim. Are they still projected onto a sphere or are collisions possible everywhere on the mesh?
