New Release XR2 Ravenstar 1.0 / XR1 1.5 / XR5 Vanguard 1.2 Released

When installing the files, is it safe to overwrite the XRPayloadBay.cfg ( from the XR5 ) with the new one ?

Yes; that file is used by all XR payload-enabled vessels. It is an invisible vessel used to force Orbiter to render the payload bay in the payload camera view.

What about the mesh of the same name ?

Yes; it is a small, invisible mesh cube that is used by all XR vessels that support payload.

Arrrr, it's tuesday!!

I hope you have enough bandwith, because you're going to have a hell of a lot of dl's today.

Anyways, I was so busy lately that I missed the public Beta, so I'm really looking forward for weekend... allthough I allready have to depart for Köln again for a week on sunday. :(

She flies like a dream !
I made it from a ground take-off to stable orbit ( 147Km ) right out of gate.
Very well done to everyone involved in her construction.
I can't wait to launch her from a Battlestar !

WOW! I've just installed & flown XR2! WOW!!!

The textures are amazing. These are exactly the sour of systems I would like in my ISSU project, real working systems, that you can actually use.
I can't wait to dock this thing with ISSU!!!

Amazing add-on!

GOOD JOB!!!

Just wanted to say thanks to you both. (and everyone else involved.)
It's a beautiful bird!

beautiful, a great addon, but do not leave the textures and skins.
could be an errors when downloading?
it will revert to download
Thanks be something unique to revitalize orbiter when all it ended.
:speakcool:

Double-check the size of the zip file you downloaded: it should be 89,141,037 bytes. If you downloaded the RAR version, you should have 35 RAR files of exactly 2,048,000 bytes plus a 36th file that is 1,366,453 bytes.

To see the custom skins, look in "XR2 Ravenstar\Skin Demos" in the launchpad and select a scenario.

The MD5 hash of the zip is
b98de23c86434c69fdd19d2331ed7cee

Maybe you should offer some par files.

I have now returned to download the file in a single package Zip file (89.1 MB) y. ..
well!
Now look at all its splendor.
Wonderful textures
Good job

As as heads-up to everyone who wants to download the XR2, please do not use the Download Master "download accelerator" software. According to the HTTP access logs on my site, that software generates a new download request for the XR2 at about the rate of 1-5 new requests per second from each system running it, but the download never continues. There have been several instances of users running Download Master overnight, resulting in thousands of XR2 download requests that never finish. This is treated as a DOS (Denial of Service) attack, and therefore machines that run download accelerators overnight may have their IP addresses blocked.

So in a nutshell, if you want to download the XR2 you should temporarily disable any "download accelerators" you are using, or simply use a different browser that does not have the accelerator installed. I will add a brief note to my Web site's download page as well. Thanks.

Very nice ship, beautiful work. Made it to orbit easy enough but killed the crew for lack of oxygen before reaching ISS. Guess I better read the manual before flying it again!

Thanks to all for an excellent vessel! I can't wait for the fully active VC.

Ben

Second that.
Ben

This is one of the highlights in the history of Orbiter. As I say....what have Orbiter become!!!

What an amazing addon, im speechless. Did a peruse of the manual for the essentials, took off hit the scrams and got a nice orbit. set my AOA for re-entry came home after 18 orbits. once I was wheelstop at KSC, I just sat there with a huge grin on my face. Its that feeling I had when I first installed orbiter and took the delta glider for a ride.

great work Ravenstar Team!

...:censored:ing great job mate! can't wait to try it out - downloaded it already.

EDIT: BTW, when can we expect a repaint kit? I'd like to give the XR2 a REDAC finish :)

EDIT2: Just completed a test flight, got into orbit w/out use of the SCRAMs, and i must say, theis vehicle is one of the few you can actually 'bend' i managed to pull a mach-4 inverted halfloop corkscrew and damaged the wing - and during ascent on the test flight, i pulled 5g just climbing in a DG stlye ascent. Can't wait until you get a fully working virtual cocpit up and working. Also, itt may be a bit late to do this, but can you add a feature to cancel out the roll created by wing damage? doing lazy barrel rolls at 4 mach burns.

So, to sum it up in one word: Awesome. Can't wait to make a REDAC Aerospace skin for it.

Well, that feature is called "The Pilot." :) Plus, that's half the fun!

And thanks for all the kind words, guys! Steve and I really appreciate it.

Thanks Doug and Steve! I gave the XR2 a spin yesterday and flew the docking and the final approach scenarios and they went very well (actually the first glider landing I made in Orbiter)!

What will be the next project? The XR0 or the MKII of XR1/XR5?

The XR2 mk2, which will feature a fully active virtual cockpit, new more realistic landing gear and numerous other code and graphical improvements, you can follow the progress in my ravenstar thread.
