SSU V1.25 Release

I don't think there'll be time for the SSME/aerosurface tests; once I finish what I'm currently working on, I want to spend some time doing testing.
What we have currently(rev. 415) is very stable. Only bugs noticed are these:

-Slowdown and severe FPS degradation on-orbit in VC view. This bug does not occur while on the ground in the same VC view. Happens like clock-work as soon as you lift-off from the pad and doesn't end until you have wheelstop on the runway.
-Guidance get real screwy in second stage ascent. Ejects you from the solar system.
-No ODS yet, although the mesh+texture have been checked in.
-DAP firing RCS jets while landing. Workaround: put DAP to FREE.
-Aft MDU being screwed up. This one is for Donamy.

For the DAP: go to MM304 before landing. This essentially turns off the DAP and uses standard RHC input to control the thrusters.
I'll take a look at the other issues.

I'm currently finishing up the various loose ends on the MLP. Just a question: in which default state do you want to have the T0 umbilicals and covers? Fully extended and connected to the orbiter or retracted into the TSMs?

I'm done with the left hand TSM and is finishing up the right-hand now. Animation is simple: a rotation of 18°s for the umbilicals and a rotation of 90°s for the covers.

I think the initial state of the umbilicals should be retracted. I have seen a documentation of the Challenger accident, which had some nice slow motion views of the MLP during launch, I think with the right particle stream and texture on the platform, we could make the launch look less clean and more dynamic (plasma flames all over the platform).

-Slowdown and severe FPS degradation on-orbit in VC view. This bug does not occur while on the ground in the same VC view. Happens like clock-work as soon as you lift-off from the pad and doesn't end until you have wheelstop on the runway.

Is caused by forgetting to declare all textures, where we intend to paint on, as dynamic in the mesh file.

-Guidance get real screwy in second stage ascent. Ejects you from the solar system.

Likely caused by the slow fps.

-No ODS yet, although the mesh+texture have been checked in.

That's my job, I didn't do yet. :(

-DAP firing RCS jets while landing. Workaround: put DAP to FREE.

Correct implementation of the DAP software in OPS3 should solve this.

-Aft MDU being screwed up. This one is for Donamy.

Only needs the corrected texture coordinates.

I've checked in the SSUPad code. I haven't started on the LCC yet, so key commands are used to control the animations. G moves the GOX arm and K moves to Orbiter Access Arm.

Works very nicely! Good job on the animations! Scenario code to position the FSS correctly:

Code:
FSS:SSU_Pad
  STATUS Landed Earth
  POS -80.6040720 28.6083850
  HEADING 270.00
  NAVFREQ 0 0
  ACCESS_ARM 1 1.0000
  GVA 0 0.0000
  VENTHOOD 1 1.0000
  GOX_SEQUENCE 0
END

OK, started getting used to the SSU code again (damn, do we need comments, really!). I added a small code sequence connecting the keyboards to the IDP, so it is possible to have the scratch pad line soon again.

I think making the MDUs functional again is more critical as having the ODS ready, what do you think? Before I do the ODS, I would like to have the DPS displays required for it implemented, so I can test it directly. The displays are:

  • SM DISP 167 "DOCKING STATUS"
  • SM DISP 169 "PDRS STATUS"
  • SM DISP 177 "EXTERNAL AIRLOCK"
  • GNC SPEC 112 "GPC/BTU I/F"
And complaints about this plan?

No complaints here. You have a GO for this plan. Could you at least implement code to have the ODS visible and separate the airlock visibility code from the ODS visibility code?

Can maybe do this relatively quickly. Had already planned this when I started the new ODS code, would just need to implement a part of the concept.

ODS is visible again, added code for replacing subsystems on runtime, so we can later switch from ODS to External Airlock or nothing at all.

I'd say, I will now work on the DPS again.

Gre! Good luck with the DPS coding! Once you're done with the DPS coding, will you work on the ODS animations?

Yes, I should have many displays then to display all the internals I want to see.

OK, all the mods to ET, SRBs and MLP is complete. Here's the animation data for the TSM stuff. All the new stuff will be checked in shortly.

New ET, SRB and MLP meshes/textures have been checked in! Please tell me if there appears to be any textures missing!

Just a quick question: How do I enable the viewing of the ODS? Right now scenario parameter "ODS" only shows the External Airlock, without the ODS on it.

When you have the line ODS, it should now show both External Airlock and ODS.

Well, for me it only loads the External Airlock mesh.

Well, for me it only loads the External Airlock mesh.

Strange. I have both coupled and if at all, it should fail to enable rendering the external airlock now.

Weired. Adn for the OBSS: maybe you have the wrong Ultra_OBSS.ini file? The one I have, places the OBSS nicely in the starboard MPMs:

Does that count as evidence, that the ODS and External Airlock are visible on my PC... updating the OBSS file solved it, I added the ini to the subversion, so it is no error source anymore.
