After several outtakes, I have finally landed the Atlantis Space Shuttle (OV-104) without joystick (I don't really have a joystick in my home).
Final approach of OV-104 begins (10.57 km alt; 316 m/s vel).

Final flare, landing gears deployed (70 m alt; 118 m/s vel).

I shall try the vertical landing of Starship on the Moon. I can't do this on Earth due to the atmospheric friction.

Hello,

I teach space courses for children aged 8-10 years. I use the Orbiter 2016 for this purpose. To make the experience even more realistic for the children, I built a "small" XR2 simulator.

The simulator can accommodate 5 people. The 'comander' and the ‘pilot’ sit in front and each have a joystick at their disposal. Between them is the 'throttle unit' with a numeric keyboard.

I programmed the joysticks with the 'Target' software from Thrustmaster, the throttle unit's thrust levers with 'Fly-By-Wire', and the buttons on the throttle unit with 'JoyToKey'. The XR2 can be flown almost without a keyboard. Here are some screenshots of the buttons and thrust lever assignement

@ACH0002 : Very very nice!
I salute people like you that inspire and educate youngsters (and the grown-ups, too)[*].

[*] I guess parents standing in line and thinking: "come on little fellas, get finished. So I can try without you seeing me giggle like a teen"..

I was born in 1958. When I was 10 years old, I saw the landing of Apollo 7 on TV at a friend's house. It has influenced my whole life. I had never heard of rockets before. But from then on, I absorbed everything that had to do with space travel. It was a wonderful time. Everything seemed possible, nothing seemed impossible. Above all, it was a time full of inspiration.

That is exactly what I want to give back to today's children. Our children need inspiration. In my last space course I had a little girl, 9 years old. I saw her again 3 weeks after the course. She gave me a bar of chocolate with the words: Until my course she was afraid of space, but since she wanted to become an astronaut...

Haha! That's exactly what happened

@soumya-8974 What great screenshots! The graphics of Orbiter 2016 are excellent what fascinates me the most is the realism of the water and the brightness of the sky, it seems to fly in a paradise.

@ACH0002 Congratulations on your project, it is a beautiful cabin. It is perfect for flying a perfect craft like the XR2. It is very inspiring for everyone. I wish you good luck in your project, it is very nice.

Well my screenshots are nothing compared to all of the above, but I still post them. I had a beautiful afternoon with Orbiter + XR5 HoldSpeed & HoldAttitude Autopilot engaged+ G44-200 Starliner.

Aligning the G42-200 took me an hour despite the XR5 being on autopilot. But the hunt was a lot of fun.

And then a bit of cheating...

You need to download D3D9 for Orbiter 2016 to get this effect. I saw your screenshots and found that you are still below Windows Vista for Orbiter 2016. I recommend to install Windows 8 when Covids are over.

I currently use Windows 7 Home Premium and in my country buying a new operating system or a new PC is really expensive.
Thanks for your recommendation. In fact I have been testing Orbiter 2016 since it was in beta and in the SVN system until 2015, but I remained very attached to Orbiter 2010 due to add-ons that were not available yet (UCGO, UMMu, etc). I'm going to test it shortly now that I see that the G42-200 Starliner is available.

Flying in the new (for me) Orbiter 2016, testing a livery on the G42-200. Adjusting some visual parameters to avoid frying my CPU (I'm on a laptop). Despite my low-end graphics Orbiter 2016 + D3D9 Client does an impressive job in rendering.

Thank you very much martins for Orbiter 2016, jarmonik for the D3D9 Client, and Moach for the G42-200 Starliner and Abdullah Radwan for updating this ship to Orbiter 2016.

And finally a little trip from the KSC to the Bahia Blanca airport, the city where I was born, city for which I made a base in Orbiter 2010.

I can't stop flying the G42-200 Starliner.
Free flight from KSC to the Canary Islands

Landing in some valley in Europe, then take off and return to Florida.

Returning to the KSC
0029.jpg

Later I flew from the Bahía Blanca airport to my town, Monte Hermoso. In front you can see the Sauce Grande lagoon.

...which I then flew over at a very low altitude.

Then I returned to the Bahia Blanca airport. In the background you can see the Sierras de La Ventana

And finally a flight over the bay of Bahía Blanca

...on a journey with a destination yet to be chosen.
