I'm having problems with the torrent download for Earth HiRes.

The 4 files have arrived. All checksums are correct. 001 extracts using 7-Zip but 002, 003, 004 won't extract - "Cannot open as archive" which usually indicates a corrupt 7-Zip header

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm getting the same result when downloading HiRes 002 straight from the server.

These are multi-part archives - only the first one is actually readable as an archive. 7-zip will automatically know to bring in the .00x files as needed. You can verify this by moving one of them out of the directory and trying to extract .001 again - it will throw a missing file error when it needs that part.

I downloaded Matlab-2012a . But I had no intention - for lack of time now - to go further.

I still tried to install it (Windows XP SP3 32 bit). I have not had alert during this installation.

I searched the internet simultaneously, in a dozen sites, to see if Matlab-2012a is compatible with XP and it seems so. But should we also have other programs such as Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime 2010 ?.

I clicked on a couple of executables in Matlab-2012a to see ... Nothing is displayed ( but I do not know how this works, so, for the moment ... ).

Also, I went in the utils folder of Orbiter " 2015 " to take tileedit.exe . When I run the executable , I have a message: " tileedit is not a valid win32 application " .

tileedit.exe is 64-bit application....

Thank you doctor; and thank you for these changes in Orbiter.

For the rest, it remains to me to buy the 32 missing bits :)

If you've got a full Matlab32 installation, I can give you the tileedit.m script instead. I don't think that any of the data structures are large enough to require 64-bit treatment. It's just that I only have access to Matlab64.

Yes. Thank you.

And, yes, I've got a the Matlab32 executable on the link given by you on this topic; and proceed to an installation.

I do not know if I'd use it really. I am now an old man and I have less used Orbiter and composed for orbiter the last two years than before, if i read the forum very, very often. But...

Nevertheless, all my investigations made on nightlights are stiil there on my hard drive waiting maybe afer a stabilization of the grounds of Orbiter ( level of details, configuration etc ).

So. Yes for the script.

Another subject, a request for a feature - far from being a priority I think - and perhaps not essential, but:

Would it be possible to recover in output of Orbiter launchpad in the current state scenario, or in the quicksave scenarios, initial data from the Help line when the Help is a personal file, like this example? :

..................
Sol System
Date MJD 51983.5619320174
Help Default \ Checklists \ myDocument, myDocument (this for a personnal mydocument.chm)
..................

or add a line:
..................
Sol System
Date MJD 51983.5619320174
Help CurrentState_img
Help2 (?) Default \ Checklists \ myDocument, myDocument
..................

( I know: there can be only two people interested by the subject: you and me.. :shifty: euh...only me ?)

This may be a misunderstanding: the link I provided was only for the Matlab runtimes (the set of libraries required to run compiled Matlab applications). It is not a full Matlab installation. Matlab isn't free (it's quite expensive, so if you have not got it already, there is no point in buying it just to run the tile editor).

Anyway, I have attached the scripts for tileedit, since others may be interested as well. Please note that it uses a mex file for dds reading functionality. The mex file is for windows-64 (mexw64). If you want to run the script on a different platform, you need to recompile the mex file. I've included the source for that as well.

Regarding the storage of the help file line in the scenario, I'll look into that.

No doctor, no misunderstanding. What I downloaded was in my mind, a kind of library for Matlab and not the program itself, which I had already heard from you, in the forum, in the past.

Thank you for the script. I'll try to understand what it is.

As for the line of the scenarios, yes, it would be practical I think, for all purposes.

If you're talking about Earth, Moon and Mars, you must download the base textures.
Links in the first post.

From the textures mirrors:
...Installation

To run the Orbiter beta, after checking out the beta distribution from the SVN repository at svn://orbiter-forum.com/orbiter, you need to download and install the texture packs for Earth, Moon and Mars below.

You need at least the low-resolution packs, and the cloud pack for Earth. The high-resolution packs are optional...

Now, I am experiencing this problem.
I updated my orbiter folder(the one which I keep for svn updates only, my actual orbiter folder is on another dedicated drive)
Then, I copied the files which had been updated to my actual orbiter folder(which contained the beta 8. also, the previous high-res textures are installed in that folder)

Then I installed the d3d9 for beta9 into this folder.
Orbiter ran fine. Earth and Moon are fine. Mars shows a black sphere.
When I ran orbiter from the basic dx7 mode, Mars shows up fine.

So, Mars textures are not being displayed in dx9/

Also, Phobos and Deimos are not being displayed.

For testing purposes, I made a clean install of beta 9 onto a separate folder.
And unpacked the low res textures. And also d3d9 for beta9. same problem. Mars doesn't show up in d3d9, but shows up in dx7. Also, phobos and deimos are invisible.

I also experienced this. This d3d7client141222 doesnot load up in orbiter_ng Launchpad.

When I disable d3d9 client and activate d3d7 client in the modules tab, orbiter becomes not responding

I've created a new, empty folder for this new Beta reision, and checked it out.
Upon first launch of orbiter.exe this is what I got

Did you unzip Earth_Cloud.zip, EarthLo.zip, MarsLo.zip, and MoonLo.zip into your Orbiter beta installation?

Orbiter ran fine. Earth and Moon are fine. Mars shows a black sphere.

I also experienced this. This d3d7client141222 doesnot load up in orbiter_ng Launchpad.

I have the same problem when using d3d9. Earth and Moon are fine but Mars is like a blackhole in the universe. Mars seems to work with the d3d7 client, but Phobos and Deimos do not display with either client.

Also, the following built-in scenarios are causing a CTD on my system. (There are probably more, but this list is just what I've seen so far. They consistently crash Orbiter every time.)

  • Deltaglider -> Docked at ISS
  • Checklists -> Mission 2 - ISS to Mir
  • Checklists -> Mission 3 - Deorbit
  • Shuttle-A -> Docked at ISS
  • Space Shuttle Atlantis -> Atlantis docked at ISS
  • Space Stations -> Mir

Also, I haven't had any success getting UMMU + XR2 working.

Yes I already mentioned Mars & Moon not showing up on the lastest dx9 client.

Lots of problems still on Moon and Mars but surprisingly the same problems do not really exist on Earth. I would love to have the graphics on Moon & Mars displaying correctly.

Yes I did, and I even redownloaded them all before, just to be sure.
Anyway, now I'm redoing it from scratch, with another installation in a new folder: Config folder was correctly populated with files and planet base textures look good.

Maybe yesterday I just had an erroneous SVN download, or I messed up something...
I'll report if I have other weird issues (after Xmas celebrations, that is)...

The problem with a black Mars seems to be a result from a missing atmosphere configuration files and the default atmosphere setting don't seem to be working with the latest implementation. The surface of the Mars seems to render just fine so no need to worry.

There is also a vessel lighting issue resulting a black vessel with missing faces when the vessel is located below planet's mean radius. So, we need to re-write a few code sections to fix that.
