Iron Hill Project Thread

It's a roughly 300 km drive, so it will take about 4 to 5 hours. That means we need to suit up and set out right away if we're going to get there before midnight:tiphat:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! I don't know if I can press the same key during 4 or 5 hours, can you do it?

Got it. I'll drive;)
Don't worry about chat until we get there. I'll contact you when we arrive.

Okay, the Azure is on it's way, and handling the crater wall pretty well:) Great suspension on this thing:P
We should arrive around 23:15 UTC.When we get there, we'll set up the Geo Team's equipment, and then head home.

BTW you don't have to hit the same button. You can just get the rover to a particular speed and let it go;)

MISSION ABORTED.
There was an O2 alarm in the cabin. We got out and checked, but the O2 readings on our suits were normal. But I'm not taking any chances; we're heading home. Will try again tomorrow.

UCGO Cars have oxygen alarms?

No, but UMMU suits do, and when they go off, you can hear them regardless of where they are...it turned out that Lydia was wearing her space suit in the base:lol: I got to her just in time: she had about 5 minutes of oxygen left.

We'll try the mission again tomorrow morning. (I have company coming tonight).

Whos Lydia?

Lydia is a geologist with the A-Crew;)

Oh, just wondering. By the way how did you get out of the crater? Ive been meaning to get to that project for you, but I am strapped for time right now, and I dont think I can do it exactly like you sketched. I might be able to create an elevator that goes more or less vertical up and down, but at angles is probably beyond my abilities

By the way how did you get out of the crater?
In Orbiter terms: Orulex doesn't have collision detection.
In realistic terms: We probably wouldn't have been able to do it. But the Azure is a 6-speed 4x4 with really good suspension:P

I'm thinking we could try the Scopas mission again tonight if Felipi or RickD drives, or tomorrow afternoon if I drive.

One way or the other, we need to get this done. The base building has gone well, but the science mission is way behind schedule. We need to accelerate things if we're going to have something the show for this by the October launch window;)

Maybe I can try to deploy the scientific base. And we should try to get some informations in the same day, using the Azure's instruments...

Okay...so, are you okay with driving the Azure Rover Monday afternoon? If we set out at 17:00 UTC, we should get there around 21:30. The plan will be to plant the equipment, stay the night at Scopas, then head back to Iron Hill the next day.

I can't do it at 17 UTC, but maybe at 19/20 UTC... What do you thinK? 12:00 UTC isn't bad for the end of the trip.

Okay, we arrived at about 22:55 UTC. The seismometer and a temporary base camp have been set up.

I'll be out of contact most of the day tomorrow, so one of you will have to drive us back to Iron Hill.

I'm posting the Mercury config files with the markers for Scopas and Iron Hill. All team members need to download these, and put them in C:\Orbiter\Config\Mercury\Base.

I also have re-added the SSK. Please don't delete it! If you get a CTD, just download and install Loru's SSK from O-H. That is all:tiphat:
