Introduction
I will be hoping to complete an Orbiter based Artemis III mission in real time this month. I will be using the Falcon9 with Crew Dragon attached, the Arrow freighter and XR1 in Orbiter 2024. I will not be time warping at all. I will be keeping this thread up to date with a mission log.

Mission Profile​

  1. LAUNCH - Falcon9 and Crew Dragon lift off from Kennedy Space Center
  2. JETTISON ROCKET BOOSTERS, FAIRINGS AND LAUNCH ABORT SYSTEM
  3. CORE STAGE MAIN ENGINE CUT OFF - with separation
  4. ENTER EARTH ORBIT - Perform the perigee raise manoeuvre. Systems check.
  5. CREW DRAGON PERFORMS RENDEZVOUS AND DOCKING
  6. TRANS LUNAR INJECTION BURN - Astronauts committed to lunar trajectory
  7. ARROW OUTBOUND TRANSIT TO MOON - requires several outbound trajectory burns
  8. ARROW ORBITAL INSERTION BURN - Arrow performs burn to establish rendezvous point.
  9. LUNAR LANDING PREPARATION - Crew activates XG1 lander and prepares for departure
  10. LANDER UNDOCKER AND SEPARATION
  11. LANDER ENTERS LOW LUNAR ORBIT - descends to lunar touchdown at Brighton Beach
  12. LUNAR SURFACE EXPLORATION - Astronauts conduct week long surface mission including moon walks, rover ops, surface science and extra-vehicular activities
  13. ARROW REMAINS IN LUNAR ORBIT - During lunar surface mission

gattis is right there are a lot of landers and Orions to use and they all look super as well as flex rover LTV and the MEV to use to explore.. It is sort of hard to find a good landing site near the south pole however
 
For which vehicles. I can help. I think my artemis is in devolpment,...

I did get the Crew Dragon attached to the SLS with the below but I cannot get it to launch. I press P and the engines fire but its like the ship is stuck on the pad.

Thanks so much for your help. It's still stuck to the pad when I try and launch though. Maybe I'm missing something? All I'm doing is pressing P to start the autopilot.

I'll be using the XR1 as the lander.

And you are using the 2024 multistage 2015 module.

I have not tried the SLS in 2024 but my new glenn is ms2015 in 2024 and it launches
 
According to my caculations the optimal time for launch is Sunday 09 Feb 2025 at 08:50 UTC. So I will be launching then.
 
Successfuly launched with the Falcon9 and Dragon from Cape Canaveral. It took me about 10 mins to get into a stable orbit and another 12 hours to get docked with the Arrow.

For those interested, I've written a simple tutorial.

Launch​


  1. On right MFD, open Orbit. Press TGT and enter "Arrow-1". Change FRM to EQU and PRJ to TGT.
  2. Note Arrow's Inc, PeA and ApA.
  3. On left MFD, open Align Plane MFD.
  4. Click TGT > enter "arrow-1". Ensure REF is "Auto Surface".
  5. Note Tn. When Tn = 400s, then it is time to takeoff (note ignore Tn until it gets close). Note: NASA only uses DN for safety reasons (when target is coming from south to north).
  6. Click K to bring up the Falcon9 Launch Control window
  7. Enter the inclination, perigee and apogee from Step 2. For this scenario enter PeA = 200km, ApA = 200km

Orbit​


  1. When successfully in orbit, jettison the payload from the Falcon 9 ship
  2. Change spaceraft to the Dragon
  3. Open nosecone
  4. If you still need to align plane, use autopilot NML+ on DN

Rendevous​


  1. Wait until you are over sunset > go Prograde > with a little bit of translation thrust (CTRL + 6), set apoapsis at sunrise (in Orbit MFD, the little green unfilled circle should move to your opposite)
  2. Wait until Arrow (the yellow line in Orbit MFD) is at that circle and note altitude.
  3. Wait until you are at periapsis (green filled circle in Orbit MFD and PeT) > go Prograde > raise your orbit using transition.
  4. Open Sync Orbit MFD on right side > TGT "arrow -1" > LEN "18".
  5. At apoapsis (the little green unfilled circle and ApT) burn to reduce DTmin. If Sh-ToR is less than Tg-ToR, burn prograde. If opposite, burn retrograde.
  6. When you are 1 or 2 orbits out, ensure DTmin is not get too high (>0.10). If so do correction is same way ay previous step.

Setup Comms​


  1. Open COM/NAV on left MFD and setup docking port 02 on NAV1 and long rang on NAV2.
  2. Open Docking on left MFD. Click NAV and go to NAV2.

IMFD Velocity Match​


  1. On left IMFD, click MNU > Orbital.
  2. Click VeM to open Velocity Match. Click TGT and enter "arrow-1".
  3. When around 20km away, click AB to use autopilt to line up. Turn off AB before the crosshair gets to the center.
  4. Click AB when around 1km away from ISS and let it do the burn.

Docking​


  1. On left MFD, change to NAV1.
  2. On right MFD, open up PursuitMFD.
  3. Click DOC. Click TGT and enter "ISS".
  4. Click TDK enter "02".
  5. Click DIS and enter "0 0 100".
  6. Click NOR to remove KILL ROLL and NO ROLL.
  7. Click APD to use autopilot to manoeuvre to docking port.
  8. Click DIS and enter "0 0 0". Click APD.

Falcon hvy seems to be the way to go. As Sls maybe cancelled. Not sure Orion would be used or Dragon
