Do you have to pay, and do you have to get Steam?
No and no.
DCS is free and comes with a few decent free aircraft. To get more aircraft, you have to buy them (generally) individually.
DCS can be installed as a Steam game OR as a standalone game from the DCS website.
"A few decent free aircraft" -- there's more than just the Su-25T for free now?
Got it. What if you want to fight other aircraft? Do you have to pay for other aircraft other than Frogfoot and TF?
Yes, if you want to fly anything other than those two, you need to pay for them. They frequently have sales that make them quite affordable.Got it. What if you want to fight other aircraft? Do you have to pay for other aircraft other than Frogfoot and TF?
For flyable aircraft, do you have to pay per month, or just once?
Thanks for answering the questions guys.
Just once...
unless you get shot down or crash, in this case you need to buy a new one....... just kidding.
It's not either-or.. Bummer. I have a tendency to do that.
Sounds pretty sweet. Thanks for answering the questions! Would you recommend Flaming Cliffs 3 or just DCS with added aircraft?
I've flown Su-25 in the older version. On the DCS World website, the download looks free (for Flaming Cliffs 3).
You may be able to download the file for free, but you can't use it without purchasing a key.I've flown Su-25 in the older version. On the DCS World website, the download looks free (for Flaming Cliffs 3).
