I have already decided to work on a dedicated flight sim computer next year... My notebook works great for DCS right now, but with all periphery connected, it is as transportable as the pyramids of Giza anyway. When I am going to add a bigger screen or a Oculus Rift, this is all getting a bit less logical.

The notebook will then become a pure Orbiter machine

Now, the Oculus Rift is something I'm keeping a very keen eye on, since it appears to be much more immersive and much less expensive than a (completely unaffordable for me) triple monitor setup or similar.

If the DK2 is around 350USD it might not be unreasonable to expect a finished product around 300, which wouldn't be completely horrifying.

One thing that I haven't been able to figure out though is how (and if) the Oculus Rift deals with needing to war glasses for shortsightedness.

I've heard that eyeglasses work okay with the Oculus, depending on how big they are.

The other advantage of the Oculus compared to triple monitors is that your graphics card doesn't have to work anywhere near as hard...

I should be around on Saturday, although I don't have any of the newer toys yet. No specific map requests but I can always use more time in the P-51; I can't quite claim "operational" status there until I can land reliably. If anyone wants to see how the new stuff works in MP, the r/hoggit server (publicly posted password: hoggit1fw) usually seems to have all the toys. It's also the regular public server I've been team killed on the least.

Oh yeah... Orbiter :lol: Haven't been in there much lately. Too many distractions from things like DCS and Elite. I'm pretty happy/lucky I put my new gaming PC together this summer.

Met with employers at a career fair today. One makes flight simulations including for the A-10. It sounds like some of the employees use DCS too.
