Have you ever seen clouds in form of flat thin plane somwhere above in real life?
Then why not make volumetric clouds in Orbiter.?
Nebo is a weather system add-on for Orbiter.
Currently, it generates volumetric clouds worldwide dynamically (think MSFSX).
Iam interested, what kind of performance you get with this, it should be an FPS eater.
Usage:
Activate the Nebo module.
Run any Earth-based scenario, or try one of 3 included ones.
As soon as you start the clouds will start generating. Wait a minute (or 6sec on 10x) and enjoy the show.
Issues/Limitations:
Not for low-end systems - volumetric clouds are resource-intense.
Both shadowed and shadowless clouds is sunlit on the night side of the earth.
Shadowed clouds got Alpha-buffer problems.
Changes v0.2-v0.3:
Automated cloud generator. No more MFD.
Scenario-independant system added.
More cloud variety
Limited cloud generation to Earth
Limited cloud generation to below 50Km vessel altitude
Limited cloud generation to timewarp<100x to fix timewarp issue.
Basic weather effects added
Fixed scn configuration bug
