I am also seeing some artifacts like in the screen shots above. They do appear at level 14 and above. Level 13 seems to be rendering fine.

I am not able to download the new texture pack from above.

There is also a small issue with GrpahicsClient::RenderWndProc() it is still often called after receiving a call clbkDestroyRenderWindow(). So, the window handle passed to RenderWndProc() is no longer valid. This is not a new issue. It exists in 2010-P1 as well.

What's the problem? I just tried, and it seems to download ok.

Ok, noted. I'll look into it.

It's only downloading 0.5Mb and then it hangs-up and gives an unidentified network error later on.

Does anybody else get this? Maybe too many people trying to download the highres patch at the moment and overloading Doug's server? Although I've tried twice without problems.

I think I might be doing this wrong.

I get:
Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'svn://orbiter-forum.com/orbiter.'

Using a download accelerator (I use Free Download Manager), I had to stop and resume the download in order to finish it. It happens to both the Hi and Lo res files.

Installing the LoRes does nothing; re-installing the HiRes over the LoRes does nothing either.
In both cases I have the same artifacts appearing.

Damn, then maybe my tile packager script is missing some levels.

Can you try the following: rename your current Textures/Earth directory (don't throw it away!), then unpack both the EarthLo and EarthHi_10_08 packages, and see what that does. If the artefacts go away, then it would seem there are some leftover tiles that haven't been included in either package. Otherwise, I'm somehow picking up outdated tiles in the packager.

I got the package. No change.

It would seems the land and coast-line tiles are rendering properly for all levels. However, high resolution >13 ocean tiles are the problem.

It looks like a high resolution ocean tiles do exist but the texture is incorrect.

Ok, I think I know what's going on now. These high-resolution pure water textures should actually not be present at all. They are leftovers from the old highres Florida textures. Since these textures are no longer present in the new distribution, they never get overwritten.

One way to fix this would be to delete all directories Textures\Earth\Surf\xx and Textures\Earth\Mask\xx with xx >= 14, and then unpack EarthHi_10_08.zip again. Unfortunately this will also remove a few high-res textures from surface bases at other regions, but those will need to be redone anyway, so no big loss.

Edit: Actually, levels 11-13 may also be affected. Pure water tiles should only be present up to level 10. I may need to figure out a way to remove these obsolete tiles without the need to reinstall all texture packs from scratch.

I was about to say that the "remove Earth textures then re-extract Lo and Hi res" manipulation is indeed working, but it seems that culprits have been found already.

That might be intentional, but clouds textures are not included in any of the two textures package.
BUt, the main thing is that ...
IT WORKS! :woohoo:

HAs anyone experienced this. Running in d3d9. When I open a delta glider scenario and apply hover. The hover rating is great and then I get a gradually increase but can see the ship.

Gave R9 a try and so far everything is good here. Only two observations:

  • Runways still aren't entirely smooth and flat. There's still some bouncing during take-off rolls and landings.
  • Atmospheric fog is really dense, too dense I think.
