Okay Guys, hi for Everyone, wanna ask You something, but first of all, thank you for this great contribution, Ravenstar is almost the only ship I use in this game, mainly because im very fascinated in high atmospheric flight, and its uses, aero plane change, capture, etc.
My problem: I want to get down into a gas giant's atmosphere (any gas giant), manouver, make corrections, and safely reach a certain point at 1 Bar, sea level equivalent altitude. Like a theoretical baloon station or so...
What actually happens, I burn like a match, long before i get any usable drag or lift. To my feeling, theres something off with the heating calculations at very high mach numbers. The hull is lit up like hot iron, long before theres any standard orbiter plasma trails.
So, start at a very low, circular, eq orbit, just above the atmosphere, and try "sailplaneing" down to 1 bar, slowly, carefully. can u cut it? i cant... why? not even on uranus or neptune, which have 0.9-1.1 gravity. Also, spawning at .9 bar altitude, and trying to start has very weird results...
any advice
...? thx!
