Skylab 1973 rebuild

Oh. I have 3 guys there one by the table. one by the hatch on top of the OWS and one in the MDA. They just float around at locked location

Could you, in theory, make it two and permit some discrete position changes, like "jumps from workstation to workstation".

(Of course, much better would be animating the guys, for example with data from Blender)

Well like the tether which moves the attachment point. You could have a guy attached and move them around. I can add an moveable attachment.

Not sure, if that is what I want, but at least, its theoretical possible and my question answered!

I have run into a weird mesh issue.
Here is the black telescope under the covers.
In anim8tor it is 1 mesh group. But when I export to a mesh. in meshwizard now it is 2 groups.

Which exporter do you use? If its the one I have written once ago, mea culpa!

IT is. This is weird. But i then saved as a ani file form meshwizard. and made into 1 group and exported and it is 1 group. BUt now I can continue. Trying to find a good layout of the hatches on the ATM. I added things behind the telescope hatches and film hatches.

I think it had a bug duplicating meshgroups, if you had certain material properties, because of a faulty translation from anim8or objects to Orbiter meshgroups. But that was as far as my analysis went back then.

The script was pretty crude, not sure if the language permits some smarter constructs now.

Thanks. It has worked before. But it seems good. I was relabeling and combining groups of same material in the ATM. So coding the animation will be easier.

On the scope. I can set it just to open 1 cover at a time.

The other I question is there seems there should be another rail below the loop on the ATm?

At the top of the sunshield is Sun shield station. With a arm that opens up. I think to hold things?

Can the telescope carrier of the ATM rotate? That would be the bigger feature.

Maybe. Do not sure what you referring too though

These, especially the 120° roll gimbal:

Oh. Yes. I can make the center section roll +- 120 degrees. So for animation it would roll 24o degrees .5 in the center

Yes, that would be nice, even though nobody ever saw photos of it, since it only happened during science operations.

Well that might explain why some images are different. But I can redo the ATM so that the center rotates 120 degrees +/-

Yes, then maybe there could be some operations with the ATM. Also it could explain better, why it looks like this.

Right now. the telescopes/cameras are just black meshes. Sure I can cut the center area out but not sure what to put there.

Wikipedia has some great photographs of the assembly of the ATM, you could look there. I think some lower parts, that might appear hidden, are actually visible during an EVA to collect the film cassettes.

Yes. I have seen those. I think most of that is covered by the shield. But the film hatches would expose the cameras.. It also looks like it has gimbals for +/- 2 degree P/y?

There side panel doors for film retrieval.

Yes, for keeping the telescopes at the sun without having to move the slower reacting station
