Skylab 1973 rebuild

Looks good so far, pretty close to the photos now.

I will darken the ring. It looks like white boxes? along that ring also? I might look at the Eva bay.

I watch news coverage of Skylab and I did see the fireman pole. Now I need to find it on a plan so I know where it was and how long,...

I might just replace with a black and brass texture and make shiny?

Here is what I have so far. I am using VesselBuilder right now for testing.

The only animation is the hatch right now. But I think the mesh might be aligned wrong?

This is what the old code was:
_V(0.7377, 0.1196, 1.6002), _V(0, 0, 1), (float)(-90 * RAD));

but in VB:
0.214 0.721 1.666

the x and y are reversed.
I may use beacon for the lights rather than part of the mesh?

Also need to move the foot restraint as the hatch hits it.
I might pull the covered area back out on the other side of the truss??

New mesh and cfg. I might need to adjust the hinge of the hatch.

If the mesh is good then I will clean it up and start some animations,....

I think this mesh is good. You may see holes in the mesh. Because the VC mesh is not loaded in there. The airlock has an interior. I think the hand rails are good. I am not sure about the hand rails near the base of the ladder.

Are you planning to make a useable VC or only one for the looks?

Mainly the detail in AMSO seems better I do like the saturn S 1B with the opening of the petals if they stayed on the S IVB stage

I just used an Apollo for docking test.

I can make the MDA hatches open BUT should the droque covers be a mesh that can be roved else you may not see the Apollo thru the hatch

I think there were basically 2 skylab add-ons 1973 and 1980. I am not sure the differences, Not sure if it is just different things that were added to Skylab.

I am going thru the mesh relabeling the parts for animation.

As far a VC goes it is the internal parts. You will be able to float thru.

Things I can do as far as animation in the VC. The eva hatch animation. the 2 airlock hatches near the airlock. the hatch at the top the OWS.

In the MDA. open/close the window. On the docking ports. I can animate the hatches also. BUT those Droque covers are there. Should be made removeable.

I think the Skylab 1980 version was for the Space Shuttle Rescue / Reboost mission. Unless you are planning a full Skylab add-on, let somebody else do it and focus on the core product. I could for example imagine doing a Space Shuttle Vessel / Skylab mission pack IF a reference Skylab add-on exists.

I think the core should be a dockable, arrays and ATM animated. Parasol. and eva hatch. And a Lauchable scn.

An correct eva guy would be great also

Yes. But if I am allowed to call some loud IMHO here: A space station needs a IVA crew. Being alone in space is not really immersive, seeing no other people in a space station strange. Also it could easier give an idea, how large the OWS actually is, especially compared to the Soviet DOS stations

Oh. I have 3 guys there one by the table. one by the hatch on top of the OWS and one in the MDA. They just float around at locked location
