Your smartphone is roughly equal in performance to, if not a better than, the computer you had a decade or so ago. The only reason you can't dock it to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor and use it as a lightweight desktop out of the box is lack of vision, and possibly ulterior motives, on the part of the industry. Don't think of it as a smart phone, think of it as a pocket computer.

If you're willing to do some hard hacks you can turn a Raspberry Pi into a PiPhone:

Something you could pull out of your pocket and park on a desktop kiosk with a full sized keyboard, mouse, and screen for those things you just can't do on a swipe screen would be awfully nice.

Well, history was made at the Pikes Peak race this year... The FASTEST car up the hill was all-electric.

Nice... pretty good acceleration even with just one motor pack, no surprise it was that fast on the track...

But still, it feels nothing like the old wing monster Audi Sport Quattro S1 ...

(No, that flames are no show effect or engine damage - its the anti-lag system, that was used in that era)

TIFU by sending the wrong link to labels.

It was sometime ago actually, I had finished this EP and I wanted to send it to labels to maybe have it signed and published 'round the world.
So, I make a private SoundCloud track with the whole EP; and finally, when writing emails, sent them this link: https://soundcloud.com/refractordj/spaceflight-ep

"But but, there's nothing" you might say. Damn right there's nothing!
This whole time I've been linking the public link of a private track ...

Raspberry Pi

Dunno how good the battery life would be though, Pi, TFT, and Gps shield all together would draw quite a bit of power, or a lot for a raspberry pi anyways.

My current very WIP project is taking my dead thinkpad and using it to build a raspberry pi based laptop that never has to be shutdown or plugged into a wall charger (hopefully)

I don't mind getting woken up with only 4 hours sleep, I do mind that it was for a leaking water pipe, that I cant find where it is leaking from.

Still better than waking up early morning because the house is full of smoke.
Fortunately, the fire was easy to find.

Had it a few weeks ago, luckily during the Saturday noon. Though realizing that something is going wrong took me some long seconds... "Why do I feel cold water on my arm?"

Cause was also easily found, clogged drain pipe resulting in flooding one level above.

NB: in Polish, street names are genitive case

All fixed, a washer had failed in the back of a tap, but due to its position the water dripped down the feed pipe in to the floor (which was not visible until we took the basin off), then through the ceiling. Problem solved for less then £30.

UK to develop Quantum 'universal' satellite - BBC

The development of a completely novel type of telecommunications satellite has been approved.
To be called Quantum and built in the UK, the 3.5-tonne spacecraft will break new ground by being totally reconfigurable in orbit.

Evidence of a pentaquark has emerged from the lhc

I wish I could make sense of particle physics. I'm sure the discovery of pentaquarks is significant but I'm not sure what we are learning from it.

I wish I could go take night classes somewhere that goes through these models in detail. Minute Physics is pretty good but it really isn't painting a clear picture for me. I need someone to lay down some homework that I could do to work through what is known. I am a mechanical engineer and so classical physics gets the job done for me; breaking out of that model to see an alternative is hard.

I think the existence of pentaquarks confirms something about the interactions between gluons and quarks.
