Yesterday it was 92 degrees Fahrenheit. Today it snowed. And in between was torrential rain and hail for a total of 30 minutes yesterday. And a tornado watch. And risk of wildfire due to 40mph gusts. And earthquakes have become daily.
I now understand why Oklahomans are such God-fearing people...

Oh, lovely April... Our satellite dish rotated, so I had to climb onto the roof during a perfectly sunny phase.
Minutes later ~80km/h winds and heavy rain made it feel like a heroic repair on a sinking ship .

Hah hah hah, that's good...

Here, there's still about four feet of snow on the ground. Our most recent blizzard was last week. Spring? In April?!

Well, now it's snowing. In April.

If people don't believe in climate change, they better start now. :)

You really need a larger sample size.
Or else climate change deniers get to say "see!" when later seasons end up 'normal'. Climate change or not, the last few months are full of anomaly. (i.e. global climate change is happening but not primarily responsible for a bit of unusual weather)

As someone from the Alps: Snow in April is perfectly normal. If you change your winter tires before Easter you are going to have a bad time.

Weather is the mood, climate is the character.
If your character degrades, your moods will get worse, but not necessarily all the time or at once.

There was a lot of noise from global warming deniers about this cold winter in the USA, but they didn't bother noticing that it was raining in Moscow at the same time. On new year's day, no less.

Nope, Orbiter did it.

Google X, or how to make sure that scores of talented people produce nothing of value: http://www.fastcompany.com/3028156/united-states-of-innovation/the-google-x-factor. The best part:

Piponi, after some study, concluded that teleportation violates several laws of physics.

No kidding. Maybe they should start hiring people who have actually passed physics course in college. Google Glass (a solution in search of a problem), Wi-Fi baloons and fantasies of space elevators. Meh. Wasting billions while people with really interesting and useful ideas are struggling without funding.

Xerox Parc or Bell Lab it ain't.

So, Atlanta has been officially announced as getting a new MLS (Major League Soccer) team in 2017! I'm extremely excited about my home town finally getting a major professional soccer team in Atlanta. I'm already a Seattle Sounders fan, but it'd be nice to have a team to root for in the East.

And I still haven't got the point of Google Fiber either. Why would I pay $70 for an internet connection? From a private user POV speeds like 1 Gbit/s don't make much sense, I'm not downloading terrabytes of data, am I?

1Gbit/s is only 128MBytes/s. Would take 8 seconds to download 1 GigaByte. 136 and 1/2 minutes to download a TerraByte. 2 1/2 hours to pull 1024MB. Lightspeed from my perspective.

I had my first session of football/soccer with my coworkers this year yesterday

Result: One torn ligament, one injured knee, some clothing in tatters.

If we go on like that, my company will no longer rent the football field for us every week.

At least, I can still walk.

Interesting... one of the smallest countries in Europe has the biggest pumped storage plant in Europe. Right next to the German border, but only connected to a smaller electrical network.

The problem with renewable energy is really the network, the scientific studies all agree that the existing energy storages in Europe are enough to handle the growing renewable energy production until 2030, most studies even go so far to say that only from 70% renewable energy on, new storages will be necessary.

You're doing it wrong: it's not you who is supposed to be injured. Next time you enter the field, bring a naginata.

Hey... I wasn't injured... I only need new shorts now, my old ones caught some shrapnel... I was one of the winners.
