Ok, completely random...

Working on a map to asses local goat farmers. Having of course major problems because there's practically no streetnames except for major streets in major cities in Bosnia on google maps (or osmaps for that matter), it's really annoying. Wishing someone would do something about it, but know that the government certainly doesn't care. There would be enough unemployed sods who could do it however. Following that line of thought, I come up with a quick 30 seconds unemployment project mind-draft, wondering who would pay for it.

So question: Are there any mechanics in google maps that allow you to get payed for filling out stuff?

Not that I know... you can make such projects possibly by letting people contribute to you and you prepare the actual map layer. But some sort of central quality assurance would be needed.

I'm well aware of that, otherwise I'll have people just fill out bogus stuff to show that they "worked" something...

It was just a random thought popping up, I'm rather busy with other projects right now, but I think I'll keep the Idea in mind for the future. All I need is one or several parties interested enough in complete map material to actually pay for it.

Did you know that there was a fictional MiG-31* with the reporting name "Firefox" in a 1982 movie of the same name, and that it had nothing to do with the web browser?

*the real one is known as "Foxhound"

I knew that, thanks.

Of course I know.

Well, that movie is in fact an adaption of a novel by the same name. Can't recall the author, but I read it a few years back.

Wow, these helicopter pilots have skills... it's quite windy here,
and the one I just saw was already down on a small parking lot seconds after a fast approach.
The bad thing is the ambulance is right on front of our neighbours house :(.

Actually I wondered about whether the name of the browser was meant to be a reference, considering they called the accompanying mail managment program "thunderbird". There seems to be no relation between the two terms except that they might both be obscure references...

The US defense forces should shrink to the smallest size since 1940.

And what do they kill first for it: The most effective plane in the US Air Force, the A-10.

Not the shiny fancy uselessness called F-22 or the designed nausea called the F-35.

Very smart....

The A-10 is a awesome aircraft but the last airframe was built in 1984, its an old aircraft. It will be missed, mostly by troops on the ground getting shot at.
