What's the inspiration for the design of Federation ships in ST? (Specifically, the Constitution-class from TOS) The saucer-engineering-nacelle setup...

A graph of a reentry profile: interface, 0.05g, blackout, and quite a few more points. I can't seem to find it, and it might have been added to the PowerPoint in past years. It was associated with the shuttle but that doesn't mean that's correct.

LOL, I remember posting such a plot once - the Shuttle has no 0.05g point, that was Apollo.
 
Thanks for making me laugh out loud. I imagined Nick's professor's powerpoint to have a "by Urwumpe" mark.
