I made a scientific breakthrough this evening : a full, unopened beer glass bottle sinks.

It is winter (not astronomically but...) now, and cold tap water is really cold. I wanted to cool a beer bottle that was at ambient temp. So I had the idea to fill the sink with cold water, and let the bottle float into it. Except it sunk, and fast, I wasn't expecting that. For some reason I was believing that all the CO2 in beer was enough to make it float. But the glass is pretty heavy, too.

Another misconception that radically went away, another small step forward for personnal science !

It is pretty common in Germany to submerge a box full of beer in a cold mountain river, during fishing... yes, it not only sinks, it does not even move away in stronger currents.

I wish we had rail-launched SSTOs.

I think there already is such a concept with magnetic levitation. How was it called? I can't quite remember, I think Urwumpe once brought it up on this forum.

But AFAIR it used a buttload of power and in comparison to your game: It was on the Equator. Or close to the Equator. And especially not at the Cape because...you know...hurricanes are bad although the US didn't really got it this year.

Or in Summer when you are having a...nice non-alcoholic gathering at the local lake.
Non-alcoholic for the first few minutes of course.:shifty:

I know from personal experience that it works in seawater too.

When Rheinlanders speak in Freelancer with their thick German accents I am feeling very, very ashamed of my country.
And even in sci-fi in Sirian space the Germans are the bad guys.

 GIMMEGIMMEGIMME!!!!!!

The kickstarter for this is doing fantastic, if you haven't seen.

Thanks for the notice.:tiphat:
But sadly time is currently limited to a couple of hours on weekends and I still have the Fallout series and Titan Quest laying around here. Don't know when I can ever make use of this.

I hear ya on the time issue. I still have the first two Assassin's Creed to finish, as well as Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Last of Us, and I've barely scratched the surface on Skyrim.

Then I threw DCS: A-10C and Mi-8 into the mix

What makes Tapatalk different from just posting from your smartphone's internet browser?

I liked it before. Stuff doesn't all display correctly in my browser. But a couple months ago, they updated Tapatalk to some version I don't really like, made it free, and now you have to pay AGAIN for their new paid app.

If we begin like that I have to play the Mass Effect series, Assassin's Creed series, The Last of Us, God of War series, Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV, GTA V, Uncharted series, Batman series, Portal 2, the new Civ V thingy, Space Engineers and haven't killed, uh, launched my Kerbals for months.
Oh yeah, a perfect manual descent and ascent of the Lunar Module in AMSO is on my list, too.

No new money spent on better PC hardware for the next ten years. It's something.

I have yet to play any of the games on that list save KSP. I am looking forward to getting Portal someday soon, just so that I can reenact this:
