All my life in Baytown, TX:

"Home" of the 567.31ft San Jacinto Monument boasting a 220 ton star:

For a few years, also Pasadena, TX, from which I can see the Houston airshow at Ellington from my roof. And would have had a nice view of this:

If I wasn't now in Norman, OK:

This is the town where I live (Wieliczka):

Arguably, things are more interesting underground:

And this is the town I am from, and where I work (Krakow):

Hmm.... it's difficult to choose from so many photos out there..... :hmm:

Now look at it again to the tune of this song

This is where I live, a mixture of a gigantic village and a sprawling Metropolis

Jakarta_City_Skyline_part_2.jpg

a 66 square kilometres area shared by almost 10 million people, it's also the centre of the largest urban area in Southeast Asia, which holds about 25 million people (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bandung, Tangerang, Bekasi)

a Google Map view of Jakarta and the surrounding area

Indonesia_2002_CIA_map.png

A map view of Indonesia, Jakarta, the capital city is located near the western edge of the large horizontal island of Java south of Borneo (I think people might need this since my city is not as famous as HK or Singapore)

Bank_Indonesia_headquarters.jpg

The building of the Bank of Indonesia, the central bank of the nation.

Fun Fact: Jakarta holds 70% of the transaction done in the nation for each and every day, due to almost every corporate HQ in Indonesia being there.

And of course, I share the pain of Moach, living in densely populated area in a developing nation without reliable public transport

And unfortunately this kind of thing is actually a daily spectacle in Jakarta, no one is spared from this. I was once going to a medical exposition in Jakarta (I'm currently studying Med in Bandung) with a friend, and then after that dropping him to his house, which is about 10 km away, and it took 4 hours, it took me another 2 hours to go to my house which is 5 km away

and this is the Sudirman Street, where all the epicentre of the high-rise buildings in Jakarta, which holds among the most magnificent night view I've ever seen.

And then the old town Batavia

Well that's it for now, I have to go to campus, see ya :tiphat:

I live in a suburb of Chicago called Downers Grove. Of course, this is what Google Images gave me of my town
DOWNERS_GROVE_LIBRARY.med.jpg

Next year, I plan on moving to Fort Collins, Colorado to attend Colorado State University.

In the background is a mountain I climbed back in August (Longs Peak), and one of the main reasons I'm going to school at CSU.

I grew up in Bolingbrook, it truly is a small world. :hello:

I decided to turn that life in for one in a quieter locale about 20 years ago...

I live near Alexandria, Virginia outside of Washington, DC. What it looks like in real life and how I see it in my mind aren't really the same thing. When I photograph it I try to capture what's in my mind rather than make an exact image. Black and white film and various chemicals help with this.

King St. is the heart of this town:

It gets kind of busy at night:

At the end of the street is the King St. Metro station, a quick way to get to Arlington or Washington:

Germans and Italians colonized this area in the XVIII century, so some buildings resemble German constructions

If I contributed to this thread, there's a good chance 90% of my photos will contain nothing but coconut trees *chuckles* but I'll try soon :) At least the 10% might contain girls in bikinis :D

My city at night:

Great for tourism, horrible to live in (proof: it took me many minutes to find a good photo which didn't include the beach). Hell on Earth in a very literal sense, this beauty lies only a few degrees south of the equator - tourists and residents can easily be separated based on tan alone. The temperature rarely drops below 20 celsius, even at night. In midwinter.
