Let's post images from the cities where we live. General pics and some points of interest of each city. People living in famous cities like London, NYC, etc. could post pics of less known places of their area.
Here's mine. Porto Alegre is the southernmost brazilian state capital (~500 km from the borders with Argentina and Uruguay). With 1,5 million inhabitants, it's the core of the fourth largest metropolitan area (4,4 million) in Brazil. The city lies on the eastern bank of the Guaíba Lake, formed by five rivers (Jacuí, Gravataí, dos Sinos, Caí and Taquari) and is one of the hosts of the next FIFA World Cup.
Aerial view of the downtown and part of the port. The Usina do Gasômetro is on the right corner, it's an old coal plant turned into cultural center.
The public market, typical feature of portuguese colonization and of the historical district.
This is a water treatment plant.
Rua Gonçalo de Carvalho, a beautiful street.
Porto Alegre has a lot of parks. Here's the Moinhos de Vento park.
The delta of the Jacuí river.
A somewhat old picture of the Beira-Rio stadium, where five World Cup games are scheduled.
