Orbiter Video Thread

Hey that's pretty cool! Like watching your facial expressions as you're landing. Gotta say that's the most unique use of an MFD screen I've seen. :)

:)

After playing around with this, I was thinking some developer needs to make a Webcam MFD.

You really needed a 30-second promotion?
I've essentially done that with my other large projects, from posting the intro ahead of time to making a 'commercial' with scrap clips. :P (Hey, maybe it'll get me 50 more views over time and it keeps my account more active.) But the ideas I had for the two scenes will also go into my next video; practice makes perfect.

A video of Jason on final approach to KSC.

Where is this from?

Is it Space Engine? It's absolutely brilliant!

There's nothing noteworthy about this video, but for those of you that like to watch what other people do...

Fully annotated. And no irritating music. (You'll need to watch it full screen HD to be able to see the instruments.)

For people who just like to see landings, you can skip to the 34 minute mark.

Advice or constructive criticism is welcome.

Procedural Planet Rendering - YouTube

Is it Space Engine? It's absolutely brilliant!

This video is from a game that has been in development for about 10 years now called "Infinity-the quest for earth"

I followed its development for some years salivating all the way until I came to the conclusion that it is most likely going to wind up being vapor-ware :(

I've been obsessing with de-orbit and reentry for the last couple of days.

After a few trips down from orbit, the relatively long time between the de-orbit burn and wheel stop starts to get a little old. So, I spent all day experimenting with how to minimize the time. (Throwing safety out the window in favor of having more "fun" with it.) So far, this is the best I've come up with.

11 minutes and 28 seconds from the start of the de-orbit burn to wheel stop. (The first bit of the video is just undocking from the ISS and "stepping down" to a lower altitude.) The de-orbit burn starts just after the 11 minute mark.

I've wanted to try and make a super fast run between KSC and Wideawake ever since I saw that incredibly cool video that Tex made of AgentGonzo's flight. When I first saw that video, I thought it would be forever beyond my ability ... but I've learned so much in the past year that I'm getting pretty close!

I'm only about 3 slower at this point.

(I wish I had Tex's skill with video editing to make it more fun to watch.)

True, Tex is a cut above the rest...

speaking of which, where can i watch OFSS assembly flight 4?

I hope I'm not wearing out my welcome with all my videos lately, but I've just been on a "kick". (It will pass eventually.)

Here's another video I made today. For anyone who has the time to at least skim this video, I'd like to know what you think of this method? I've never been able to bring the standard Delta-glider down (reliably) with any other method.

It simply will not hold an AoA of 40-45 degrees. And the AoA hold that AeroBrake has doesn't seem very stable. So, the best I've been able to do is (as you see in this video) ... to lock the AoA at a point that will at least put the Delta-glider down within a few hundred kilometers of the base ... and then use the airbrake to fine tune the difference.

This allows for an unpowered approach and landing. If there's some other MFD that can make the standard DG hold a more reasonable AoA, then I simply don't know about it.

Machinima SL and Orbiter

Hello everybody.

I am a machinimator in the world of SecondLife, my name in world is Bert Jedburgh. I shot many videos for different purpouses. But my last movie, was made for the University of Western Australia (UWA), about a resume of a 3D art contest (the last organized by the University), showing the art presented during the month of October.

Beside I am a machinimator, I'm a big fan of Orbiter (not a good pilot tho), and since I had the freedom to create the video, I added to this presentation of 3D art a little story line. Considering it was the last contest of this type for the UWA, and considering in 2011 was the end of the STS program, I decided to mix both of them, and to a movie:

I hope all of you enjoy it, since you are the real professionals about Orbiter and the STS, you will be the most harder judges about this job.

Thanks again and sorry for the bad english.

In memory of STS-107 Crew

February 1st was the 9th anniversary. A short video to remember that tragic event.

This video is not available in Germany, because it may contain music, for which the necessary music rights were not granted by GEMA.
We are sorry.

, why do they do this?! It's just the music! Why don't they just let me see the video without sound?!!!:beathead:

STS-1 - The first Space Shuttle Mission

hey guys,:hello:
since i had an "Orbiter Film-Brake" i thought it´d be cool to post one of my films here again and so i do. I actually don´t know exactly when i produced this film but i like it and so i thought - hey just show it to the guys here- if they like it ,too?!
If you compare it to my other films it´s a little bit different what the music belongs, now it all seems much more faster and not so dramatic, but anyways:
enjoy it!

Cheers!
