Orbiter Screenshot Thread

So this took a few hours to finish an 8 second scene tonight. Pretty happy with the results. I was looking to get a shot looking back at the commander of the space shuttle during the launch sequence in my upcoming movie. I really wanted to use Orbiter as much as possible, but this film is really getting special effects "heavy". At least it's been fun to create!

In order from left to right, the first image is what I used for the commander. Notice the reflection on the visor. My first task was to remove that reflection and replace it with an image from an MFD in Orbiter. The second screenshot shows video footage of the Space Shuttle Ultra cockpit/MFD it will be replaced with. Next, I masked out the reflection, followed by the suit itself from the background. Using a combination of 'Bend It", "Glass", and "Blobbylize" effects, I was able to replace the mask with the MFD of the shuttle ascent program. (cool!)

The next screenshot to the right shows the suit and visor reflection complete on a transparent background. Finally I used the ground camera to get a shot through the window of the Orbiter as if it were a camera on the panel looking at the cammander for the background. After composing many layers, the end result post-color correction is looking good I think. Just added some camera shake and it's ready to go into the Premiere project with the rest of the footage. :RnR1:

What version of Orbiter did you use to obtain the screenshots?

Those are from Orbiter 2016 with [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3815"]BrianJ's IEATMFD[/ame] to simulate a magnetoplasmadynamic thruster for the DeltaGlider (Thrust ~120N, V_ex ~110 km/s, fuel ~1000kg) and IMFD 5.7

The exact same setup works for Orbiter 2010 with IMFD 5.5

I normally do not post here but I'm so excited and having so much fun testing a Lua Script formation autopilot that I couldn't help sharing something from my experiences.

Looks useful for movie making!

On a somewhat related note, I'm excited that Ace Combat 7 is getting a PC release.
