And docked! Now, it will wait there until Space Shuttle Emerillion takes off for SSM-85 and bring a new module and a crew of astronauts who will empty out the cargo vehicule, allowing it to leave and burn up in the atmosphere.1692717386323.png
It look like a leech docked like that x(

I just posted this update to the Cargo Deck MFD. Now supports multistage dll stages, and comes with a stage/fairing selector/spawner so you don't have to use the scenario editor.

Gentlemen, a short view back to the past...

It's been more than a year since I first flew gattispilot's STS2016 addon, and I am now at 84 completed space flights with the shuttles. I thought I could share the screenshots of my first ever shuttle flight, SSM-1, which took place on the 18th of July 2022.

Space Shuttle Emerillion was the first shuttle I created. It's my Columbia. And, it would be the shuttle launched on SSM-1. The goal of this mission was to visit the International Space Station, put into use the lessons I learned with the Deltaglider and see if I could flight a Space Shuttle from start to finish.

There were two main objectives:
- Rendez-Vous with the ISS and dock.
- Land the Space Shuttle on a runway.

It might sound trivial, but I never did either of them. I had known how to rendez-vous for some time by then, but only learned recently how to land a spaceplane on a runway. And it was all learned with a Deltaglider, which has a much larger margin for error.

Here is Emerillion on the launchpad for its first ever launch. (The mission badge was only made very recently)

And Emerillion did reach the runway and land!

Parked with the Deltagliders that taught me everything I needed to know to fly the shuttle. :)

So, was SSM-1 was success? Yes... and no. As you can see, the shuttle did reach the Kennedy Space Center and land on the runway. That was indeed a success.

However, there is something I did not mention earlier. The rendez-vous? Yeah, I failed it. I learned with the DG, and the DG has a much larger margin for error. So, I overestimated the Space Shuttle's capacity to rendez-vous, and ran out of fuel before I could reach it. :( I had to fill up the thanks twice with the Scenario Editor before I reached the ISS.

But it was a very learning experience. The following flight, SSM-2 with Space Shuttle Adventure, had the exact same objectives, and accomplished both without needing to use the Scenario Editor! But, I failed again on SSM-3, Emerillion's second flight. SSM-5, my next rendez-vous, was a success, and so were all the following rendez-vous.

While SSM-1 did fail at its main objective, it was a stepping stone to the following eighty flights I did, and I look back fondly on this first flight despite its failure. :)

@LordCroussette, what the nice blue and white! Is it default Orbiter 2016 with D3D9 Client or you've changed some colour settings?

I did some tweaks in the Atmospheric Controls menu (which can be opened with CTRL-F4). I might have done some in Graphics Controls as well. Here is my settings for both:

Yesterday, I posted screenshots of SSM-1, the first flight of my Space Shuttle Emerillion. Today, I will share pictures of SSM-85, Emerillion's 20th flight!

The goal of this mission is to bring the third module to the CSS-2. Here is Emerillion on the launchpad. (Familiar shot, aint it? :))

And take-off for Space Shuttle Emerillion for its twentieth flight!

Tomorrow, the return of Emerillion and the burn-up of Taurus-1!

Hello, it’s me again with my second XR2 simulator. This time it’s for the ‘extavium’ in Potsdam, near Berlin. The Extavium is a science room for children and families. The motto is: "Understand science".

In this way, more people can experience the amazing Orbiter space flight simulator.

Three years ago, I built the first simulator for my space courses:

This one is now a bit longer (three round windows, like the original ship ;-) it has 3D sound and better interior lighting.

A little video about the construction. With the help of some future orbinauts :)

If you are ever in Berlin, visit the Extavium. It’s worth it. Postdam is a beautiful city and only 30 minutes from Berlin.

Nice! Where's that?
Thank you. It's South Kent in the South East of England. I made surface and mask tiles from 11 to 19 levels for a quite big area:

Some more screens:

r.pngg.pngg2.pngdg.png

Now the total size of these tiles is about 5.5 Gb, but I'm going to halve it removing pure water tiles. I expect it will be about 1 Gb after compressing. Is it possible to upload such big archives here?

damn o_O

And yes I think it should be. If not, you can always upload it in multiple parts.
