Thank-you for your efforts David. It's shameful the way some people feel entitled to make demands of those such as yourself who have dedicated countless hours of your own time creating addons.

David,

Thank you for the time you did spend bringing the fleet up to 2010 as best you could. Sorry to hear about the discontinuation of development on your part, but I completely understand and would probably do the same.

Thanks again for all you have done for Orbiter.

Regards,

That's too bad, but I understand where your coming from.

Hmmm, I was already afraid that all these pm senders and askers for updates would disturb David, although i did not post anything about exhaust as light source until 2 days ago (not as a request, just comment)... David would himself see what`s necessary to do and what`s not. And here we are :(

But Shuttle Fleet is superb anyway as it is now :)

Sorry to hear this David; apparently a lot of these new Forum members don't seem to respect the amount of work that goes into making these add-ons nor the time commitment it takes.

I hope that you at some time still consider sending some of your updates to "commited fans" of your work and thus avoid pesky PM's from others.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you well and thank you for all the hard work you've done for the Orbiter community over the years.

*sigh*

Every time people request updates for your addon you post on the forum complaining and say you are no longer doing so, then you end up doing it anyway. Honestly David, this is getting old... Inevitably when you release an addon you are going to get requests and complaints. Like them or not, don't hold the community hostage because of them.

David, just take (again) a step back from the stuff, and watch it from some distance. You are feeling under illegitimate pressure again, and practically you are again right, nobody has the power or right to push you around. Except yourself, and that is the problem (possibly again, but well, I am not your headshrinker here).

Of course, there is another side of the medal. You know it. (the following part has to be said to most add-on developers in general):

The Shuttle Fleet is the product of your brain, your intellectual child. And like all children, even if you just produced it in ten minutes of fun, you are responsible for it for the rest of your life. You can't just go away. It is yours. It will follow you. What ever your add-ons do, or do not do, it will remain your responsibility. You can't even let somebody else do the support, without remaining in moral responsibility.

Of course this might now discourage a few add-on developers to release their stuff, but well, I just warned you of the reality. You can't just go and want all the Kudos and awe for your great add-on from the community. After you released it, it will have a life of its own. And like human children, some add-ons just don't want to sit silently at home and behave well. You can't predict at the day of birth, what the life of your add-on will be.

I think it's okay to mention that some addon doesn't work with the shuttle fleet, or addon A with addon B in general. It saves time. Of course neither of the two addon authors have to make them compatible. It's great when it does work, though.

Knowing you're not the author of AutoFCS and due to my personal dislike to its interface (although the autopilot was interesting), I decided to try and get the Glideslope MFD to work with the fleet and add a simple CG shift function that will let the pilot to fly the entry manually even with the stock DG and Atlantis. I have no idea if and when. Perhaps next month, or until the decade is out. The Glideslope MFD's source is open, so I can, which is the best thing of it all.

If you're 100% sure you want to abandon the Shuttle Fleet, it would be really cool if it were possible for others to continue with the project.

Otherwise, just imagine everyone who sends you a "must fix" PM or simply makes a bug report as someone who drools when thinking "what if it worked". It's technically a compliment to you and a thanks for your work. Because it's good enough for others to care about. I'd be more concerned with not getting feedback at all :)
