Iron Hill Project Thread

Thanks, Felipi:)
Tentative schedule for the Discovery upgrade mission is November 15. The cargos are now available and waiting to be loaded aboard Chronus. Here's the plan:

Mission Control: Bruce Lawson, Tacolev, and Rtyh-12 (This will be your first task in the project:))
Flight Crew: Sorindafabico (pilot), Mattyv (copilot)
Payload Specialists: Samuel Edwards and SolarLiner

November 10: Sorindafabico will fuel Chronus and load the six UCGO cargos aboard.

November 15: Departure from Wideawake. 8 hours estimated transit time.

November 16: The next morning, after docking, we'll begin the mission. The payload team will position each of the new "engines" near one of the hover thrust ports on the Discovery. You'll then return to Chronus and delete those cargos in the scenario editor.

November 17: Reentry procedures and return to Wideawake.

Again, the schedule is very tentative and open to input from the team;)

That schedule should be fine for me, though I may have an intractable travel commitment for the 16th and 17th. I should know by the 10th.

I can be here the 16 at 2:30 pm GMT, because here in France, holidays finishes the Nov. 11 ...

I have an idea for the project ... Let me see ...

Launch window options for November 15:
Direct ascent: 20:05 UTC/3:05 PM EST
Standard 8-hour approach: 14:00 UTC/9:00 AM EST (RInc of approx 5 degrees)
Sorindafabico, it's up to you:)

------ DGIV TRANSMISSION --------
Capt SolarLiner:
"Okay, I was in the Brighton beach with my DGIV ... You'll see soon a flame coming to wideawake
------ END DGIV TRANSMISION -----
Again this is great to participate such a project like this. I am ready !

Real life speaking, I think I'll be here only the 16 after 15:30 GMT, because of school return. Else I'm here today, so If I can do something ...

I got the last SCN file and was making a simulation (inside a simulation :P): wouldn't it be better to launch 17:30 UTC? LaunchMFD gives a good window at that time.

That's for a standard 8-hour orbit, right?
I'll look into that. What was the RInc at that time?

Okay, I've added a flatbed truck and another Azure rover just outside the crew hut.

Standard approach. Discovery's groundtrack passes above Wideawake and launch MFD indicates a good window by 17:30.

Roger that. Let's wait until after Felipi posts the next state, then you can get Chronus fueled and loaded, and post the state here.

The cargos aren't quite where I thought I had put them. In fact, they're in a small hangar a pretty good distance down the runway, to the right as you leave the crew hut. (Don't forget that you're facing the back of the hut, so you need to leave through the door behind you.)

Coming on 1000 posts--my first true megathread:woohoo:
Who will get it? Oh, the suspense is killing me:lol:

Thats a kiloThread to be exact

Okay, our mission is Thursday. I've checked the weather report for Ascension Island, and it looks like it will be a great day to fly.

Chat meeting will start at 16:45 UTC/11:45 EST. Sorindafabico, go ahead and get the ship loaded and fueled, and post the state here. The cargos can be found in the first small hangar on the opposite side of the runway:)

You want the block of 6 cargos on your right as you enter the hangar:)

Some little problems:

- The crew transport and forklift aren't at Wideawake (they're at KSC) - I'll move them.

- Since the cargo is UCGO, we'll need the cargo adapters. They're at random places - I'll install one (or both, if needed) on Chronus cargo bay.

- Discovery hasn't SAS installed. SAS is needed for docking Chronus and Discovery.

Engines only?
