Geo 1: KuatYards
Geo 2: open
Solar 1: ProAuroraX
Solar 2: open

Welcome to the team, guys! We have a launch window to Mercury in October, so you'll be arriving just as the A-Crew is leaving:)

Situation so far:
Base Commander/Doctor: open

Depending on how much the commit is I might be interested in Geo2. I'm just not sure how this is all being done

We've been meeting in QuakeNet Chat. One person runs the scenario, and tries to be as descriptive as possible for the others. When the person running the scenario is finished with it, they save the current state over the scenario file, then post the scenario file in the Iron Hill discussion thread.

If Geo2 is still open I think Im a go. When do we start (& what are we flying)

We'll by flying Columbus, the Odyssey's sister ship. You guys are slated to leave in October, and arrive in February of 2013, just as the Odyssey is heading home. When you get there, you'll be doing much the same thing we are: studying the sun, collecting surface samples, and maybe doing some examination of the magnetic field:)

Okaaay.

Columbus is... I assume an arrow freighter? Maybe we can use the new version for the B crew!!!

I've never used QuakeNet Chat before, so could you outline what to do with it (Do I register, etc...)

Anything else I should do?

Go to webchat.quakenet.org
Under Nickname, enter your forum name
Under Channel, enter #Iron_Hill

Our fleet includes two XR-5s called Chronus and Hermes, and two Arrow Freighters called Odyssey and Columbus.

Hmmm...since I'm going hard-core realistic with this, upgrading Columbus to the Arrow II standard would require either a buttload of spacewalks or a lunar mission. The latter would be quite fun!:)

For details on what the Iron Hill Project is all about, you can read up on it in the Iron Hill Project thread:)

...But I'll give you the rundown just to save you the trouble;)
This is a real-time mission to the planet Mercury. We'll land at a base in Chao-Meng-Fu Crater already set up by the A-Crew. You guys will basically pick up where they left off, carrying out studies of the sun and collecting regolith samples. They will spend six months on the planet, you'll probably spend anywhere from two to four.

See you at the meeting tomorrow:)

I would assume first meeting is tonight? I got a message, but no info as to a time?

Yeah, sorry about that. It was supposed to be at 8:00 PM EDT, but no one showed up anyhow:(
I'm going to lay off nagging people about it for a while, and just try again in maybe a few weeks.

OK, I just figured out how to use it anyways. I was also wondering If there would be any interest in using my spacecraft that Ive been developing, a design similar to, but a little smaller than the shuttle-A

The Shuttle-D (Ie Shuttle-A, Shuttle-PB, didnt like shuttle C, so its Shuttle-C. Im mostly finished the general mesh-modelling, I have a fairly comprehensive SC3 version in development, & Im just starting to feel out how to code. If you dont mind, I was wondering If I could simply define a UCGO Payload bay as a seperate vessel attached (not docked) under the access tunnel-Will the ship "feel" the added weight from the payload even if its just attached?

And again, I hate to bombard you with questions, but how exactly do we do geology/solar studies in orbiter? Just guessing?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've never designed my own ship before.

Loru designed the Surface Science Kit so people could actually have something to do when they landed on a planet. You can find at Orbit Hangar.

Actually, I'm glad you are asking questions. I've had little contact with the B-Crew since Interceptor signed up.

Heres the blueprints and a shot from OSHipyards of the SH-D in development

I would be lost without the orbitershipyards, unfinished or not

Just wanted to make it really clear, am I okay to take command slot on the B-Crew Mission?
