Question How to get 2001_2010 Space Odyssey Vessels to work

I've been trying without success to get "[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=891"]2001_2010 Space Odyssey Vessels[/ame]" to work in Orbiter 2010 p1.

I tried checking the author's website linked on orbithangar.com however it's just a 404 error now.

I know these ships were originally made a long time before the 2010 version of orbiter working right only in Orbiter 2006.

When installed Orbiter 2010 (100830), the scenarios load however when looking at the external view the ship is not visible regardless of zoom level. Inside, there is no fuel. Also attempting to create a new ship in an already working scenario such as the Delta Glider's Brighton Beach and using the scenario editor it is not possible to add Discovery, Leonov,or a Pod because they're not in the list in the scenario editor.

This is regardless of using a copy of my main orbiter install or a fresh clean install of 100830 with no mods or addons.

I'm hoping that there is some way to get these working in 100830 because the 2006 version will not work for my project.

Well, that particular add-on is indexed for Orbiter '03, so it's really, really, really out of date...

Instead, take a look at what Sputnik has done with this here [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1932"]World of 2001 v3.11[/ame]

There was a rumor that Dbartles was reworking the Leonov and Discovery to work with Orbiter '10, but I've not heard anything in recent memory.

Well, that particular add-on is indexed for Orbiter '03, so it's really, really, really out of date...

Thanks. I have looked at that one and may well use it however the one ship my project must have is the Discovery and it's not in that collection.

There was a rumor that Dbartles was reworking the Leonov and Discovery to work with Orbiter '10, but I've not heard anything in recent memory.

So it's likely a dead project. That is a loss. Those ships are great and no other mod/addon I've found even comes close to duplicating them.

Just because I'm not giving up hope yet and because I've zero idea what that kind of work involves, Does anyone have a guess of just what would it take to make Discovery work in the current version of Orbiter 2010?

If its for yourself, and you just want the Discovery, depending on what the Discovery does, you could change it to Spacecraft3.

I'd given it a go shortly after it was released, but I use the Titov (sputnik's) more than anything else. But I do wish the Discovery and Leonov (by dbartles) makes a reappearance sometime (sigh).

If its for yourself, and you just want the Discovery, depending on what the Discovery does, you could change it to Spacecraft3.

If I had even the first clue how to do that I'd be willing to try. As it is I've no experience making or modifying Orbiter ships. Only flying them.

Now that looks promising! Funny how I didn't spot it in my earlier orbit hangar searches. I'll try it out today.

I found it and it's working. Gotta say you're right about the Discovery's paint job. Looks more like it was dipped in mustard than coated with sulfur dust.

It works after an hour messing with it and "DiscoveryOne" looks great. How I didn't find this before I'll never know. I spent longer than I'll admit looking for it.
