Odd, not sure what happened, I'll check when I get home.

Update: my on-site staff (read: girlfriend) has confirmed it's an issue with the network, not the server computer. Most likely means that all the data is safe and there will be no need to restore to a backup.
My bet would be that my cat's disconnected the router again.

Cable modem died. Purchased a new one, Comcast can't figure out how to talk to it, so they're going to send a technician at my expense to fix it.
Not what I would expect with having purchased a Motorola surfboard...an offbrand maybe, but not the most popular brand out there.

Server's available again. I really, really didn't want to pay for a comcast technician to come out and do basically nothing, so I proceeded into some troubleshooting of my own.
An hour later, I've figured out how to trigger the comcast "activate device" process, and on going through it, discover that both of the people I'd talked to on the phone managed to fail at the modem's MAC address--the first one put down a '2' instead of a 'B', the second one failed to notice that I said 'B' instead of '2' when I read it to her. Fortunately the computer system was better trained and actually worked...
Anyway, Woo, it's pretty late here so I won't be able to move my stuff out of the dome tonight--I'll get to it tomorrow sometime.
Edit: The new internets seem to be at least 50% faster than the old...so, yay?
