News Gallery of add-ons in development

Particularly, I discovered an issue:
Maybe I found one of the reason for crashing of the "tileedit". It happens after setting the Elev_mod mode in the third window (right) and then clicking in any window (you could try it :)). Then I deleted "tileedit.ini" and didn't set Elev_mod mode anymore. And I don't get crashes!

Yeah, good thread!
Not very graphic but maybe you'll guess what this teasing is all about :)

Maybe the suspension is a bit too soft...

Oh yes :)
One of my favourites, have several (...) hours flight time in one of those.
Very nice model!
Those early Jumos were tricky though!

Not mine, I used kev33 simple mesh from 2006 as stand-in, I am REALLY bad in making meshes and already happy that I can use Blender for measuring coordinates in a mesh. I would be really happy if I could get an updated mesh with actual control surfaces, correct landing gear doors or R4M racks. But I could make a proper Riedel starter sound for it. :ROFLMAO:

And yes, a very beautiful plane, especially compared to the other early jet aircraft. I just wanted to make a simple jet aircraft and test some improved code for the turbojet engines. Maybe I also use it for playing with non-player pilots.

Yes, nothing on them that help you fly these. The throttle valves are directly linked by a push-rod mechanism with the thrust lever. And of course, the production engines used the cheaper materials that were less heat resistant, especially the turbines didn't age well.

Maybe I can take a look (after FTW).

Although the Meteor does come to mind.

I had an old joystick with a dodgey throttle lever, don't know how many times I blew an engine, good emergency landing practise though!:)

If we're talking about Il-2:1946, yeah, I also killed a few engines there, even with a good throttle. Usually during dogfights, like pulling out of a steep dive. But that was also intentionally easy to damage engines in that game, maybe even too easy even for the Jumos low temperature limits. (Considering that historically only few Me 262 out of 800 in service were actually lost to engine damage - and that without any adequate pilot training at the end of the war!)

Luckily the earliest generation of jet fighters (F-86F Sabre, MiG-15bis) on DCS already contained analog electromechanic engine controls, improved fuel metering and better materials in the engines. Still their engines only lasted slightly longer than the Jumo 004B between overhauls. The F-86 actually contained a lot of Me 262 DNA in its design, from wing design (Me 262 HG prototype) to engines (axial compressor vs radial compressor derived from the Rolls-Royce Nene).

Conversely a steep dive proved a good way to put out an engine fire, although if it blew up and ripped off a wing this was suboptimal.:D

Thanks for the info. And DCS is the way to go...but still nice to see a few birds in the Orbiter skies:)

Thanks for opening a thread on addons in development!
Here is a screenshot story on flying to the Moon with the Lunar Excursion Vehicle (LEV).

On final, picking up some dust!

If you want to fly the missions yourself, the LEV development thread is over here.
