Hello everybody

I am in the process of making an add-on which will be a complement of my "Kourou-CSG" add-on (the European Space Center of Kourou, located in French Guyana) and "Rochambeau Airport v4" add-on by Papyref and myself.
This addon will include a Cessna 172 (or something that looks a bit like it), a box transporter truck, and of course12 boxes.

The goal will be to deliver these boxes to the villages corresponding to them either by landing or by parachuting.

Here are some images of the truck and the loading of boxes intended to supply the outlying towns of Guyana ...

I specify that all the animations are made with the 2 Fred18's modules : General_Vehicle and VesselBuilder.

First of all, here's how to load the boxes one by one (being able to choose which ones) into the small truck.


This method can be quite long (but nevertheless realistic) so I made another possibility less realistic, but faster (... for impatient orbinauts!)


Now let's see how to load the boxes into the Cessna ...

This first method is more realistic than the one which will follow ...


And so, always for the orbinauts in a hurry, the faster method :

Just a little video to show you how I go about laying my marker tiles for the next area I'm going to do.
This is the Camopi area. :cool: (still in French Guyana)

This video shows the principle of successive tiles, unlike Orbiter 2010 and previous, where the most detailed tile (the smallest) was always visible, even at high altitude.

the system for Orbiter 2016 is more elaborate, therefore prettier, but ... much more complicated. :unsure:

This is what is called (see Martin's doc) hierarchical quad-tree.
The tiles start with the resolution "1" then 2 etc.
I start modifying the tiles from resolution 11 (before this is not necessary)
The most detailed tiles are the one with resolution 19.


the cross is 1 km long and is a landmark for the location of the futur runway

But it also makes more sense. It is a real global resolution system you can adapt to your needs. What is really lacking is some kind of interactive tool with a simple but functional GUI.

Hello

I have made good progress in my future “cessna and guyane airport” add-on project.

I show you just an area of Guyana that I am in the process of texturing with tiles of resolution 11 to 19 (depending on the areas)

Here is an overview of the Ouanary area.
(Ouanary is a small village located at the mouth of the Oyapock river which marks the border between Brazil and French Guyana.)

I continue my areas of Guyana.
Next area to do : Maripasoula, on the Maroni River.
It is the river which forms the border between French Guyana and Surinam (formerly Dutch Guyana).

So, how long will it take the canoe to motor from KSC to WWI? :)

Including refueling stops? At least its only on the order of multiple weeks.

Hello

As I told you before, the Cessna will be part of my future add-on with all the French Guiana small airfields.

Of course everyone knows the Kourou Space Center, located in French Guiana.
But few know about this extraordinary country located in the South American Amazon, and it is a shame!

With this add-on, you will be able to visit this famous French department.


I just finished the Kaw area (a very small village).
Here I give you an overview.

You can only get there by river from Regina, via the Kaw Canal (man-made)

The goal will be to go by canoe to deliver the supply crate... :D it will change your life about rockets

Or by parachuting from the Cessna... because there is no airstrip at Kaw, nor a road. ....

If you add trees, it will look like MS Flight Sim!

The hardest part would be to map the terrain (rivers, airfield) as "places where you don't want trees" in terms of x/y coordinates, uv mapping does that all the time with mesh coordinates and textures. It can certainly be done. Then you find a way to define minimum spacing between the trees, add some variety... Then you generate a text file from that you can paste in the base config file.
