I didn't say this before since I assumed your models were all "rough drafts" or the like, but don't you think you are rushing this a bit? look at the images of the model, and I don't really see a CST-100. Just a rough generic capsule. The edge where the heatshield meets the sides of the capsule comes to a hard edge. That isn't right, and definitely doesn't match the CST images. Also the accent cap doesn't match any pictures, either. It doesn't blend into the sides of the capsule.

It's been less than two weeks since you started, and addons take time. I'd rather wait longer for you to make a good looking CST-100 addon, then fly this how it looks right now. Trust me, I have a number of SC3 addons I've made for myself, that I wouldn't dream of releasing since I'm not happy with how they look. Take pride in your work.

It's sort of a rough draft.I see where Capt_Hensly has turned the rough draft into the real thing,and im very impressed.I think I have been rushing a bit,so I need to slow down a litle.

Well, thanks, but I'm a rank amateur at best, these images will illustrate that very fact.

I put this together rough shot, having taken a crash course in "how to slice through an object" OMG, I never knew how tough some of the things can be.

The thrusters are too high on the body, since I used cylinders to place the thrusters insets, I failed to notice when you texture them the texture is on the outside of the cylinder(inside the body), which makes the inside of the cylinder void and transparent when rendered.

The whole thing came out about 4-6" too large in diameter to the SM, So I will have to resize everything on the CM except the IDSS docking port. The docking port is completely precise to dimension, but since no one has tried it in Orbiter, who knows if it looks right when docked to another add-on

There are many minor issues, including the way the texture lays down on the CM body, but these will work themselves out as I go along

To make things worse I have to study for a Linux certification as I'm working on this and my own add-on.

But I'm not too worried, I got my, BS NCM and A+, and 20 years in computing, it should be simple.
The first two below are intended to provide a view to match the last reference image.

I included the two primary images I'll be working from for further reference. Cheers:cheers:

You don't have to finish it ,i mean just send what you have now so I could test it with other add-on's,such as thortons ISS or ISS Fleet 4.5.

Well, I ran into a size limit on my .mil e-mail outgoing account, 50mgb, The zip file is 60mgb

I'll have to post the file to a depository when I get home and include the link in this post via edit. Sorry, my resources are limited at work.

The forum has a max file size limit of 5.7 mgb. so cant put it here either

Okay then.I have an idea for the docs.I made a paper model of the capsule and thought I should include one as a bonus in the docs.

Yes that would be great, I have made a couple paper models in my day, they are fun.

In 24 hours, the zip file will be available on OHM in the Developers Resources category. 3D Model Source Files sub-category.

Have you tried WeTransfer? Faster turnover.

Also everything looks like groovy!

From a gov computer on a gov network, what are you crazy?:) Thanks for the suggestion, but the gov is a little picky about what you can do on their system and network. I can't install anything as a user, and when I develope at work it's on an off line HD. I have to burn it to disk first, then boot up online to do forum and mail. That's why you would see me online in the morning, and after noon, but rarely in between durring the week.

I have my own site, and I can host a TB of files, so it's just best to have a little patience. Besides, this thing is in developement, and it's ok if it takes time. We're moving at about the same pace as other projects

Glad you like the work, but as I said, I'm a hack amature at best.:rofl: I'm still learning how to draw streight lines in 3DS Max.:facepalm:

These textures are missing:
Code:
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: Missing texture: CM-07.dds
>>> [TextureManager::AcquireTexture | .\Texture.cpp | 750]
---------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: Missing texture: CM-06.dds
>>> [TextureManager::AcquireTexture | .\Texture.cpp | 750]
---------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: Missing texture: texture0.dds
>>> [TextureManager::AcquireTexture | .\Texture.cpp | 750]
---------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: Missing texture: texture1.dds
>>> [TextureManager::AcquireTexture | .\Texture.cpp | 750]
---------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: Missing texture: texture2.dds
>>> [TextureManager::AcquireTexture | .\Texture.cpp | 750]
---------------------------------------------------------------

And you might want to scale the capsule down.It dwarfs the default ISS.

Yep, I thought the translation from one program to the next would be a problem. I know there's a thread about how to fix that, I'll have to search.

CM-06 and CM-07 are my textures, but I don't have a CM-06.dds it was replaced by the CM-08 Texture.

CM-07 is a thruster interior which I still have to re-create.

The "texture..." textures are default colors in 3DS, not sure why they are called out separately. Give me some time to sort this out. Did the CBM-LIDS textures come out OK, (not shown this image)

Edit ----------------

The CM shows Gray not white, that's one texture
The Heat Shield is invisible, should be black, that's two
Cant see the chute color, but I bet that's missing or discolored as well. It's supposed to be off White/egg shell.

Re, High Poly count

I don't know how to optimize my meshes yet, but it's something I'm studying, you can draw with high polys, then optimize, and the poly count comes down. This is important to me, and others I'm sure, because Gateway Station is a very large station with many objects. If I can get this under control in the CST-100 model I can use the knowledge on Gateway.

This is just another reason to help with this project. It's smaller and I can learn, then apply the knowledge later.

KY, I know you use sketch-up, but I have not. I downloaded it once. Is there a way to optimize a drawing in SKP?

ar81's mesh wizard has an ability to optimize a mesh. I haven't mad any meshes complicated enough to merit it's use yet, but might be worth a look-see.
