How about this?

"This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then - explode."

"Achtung! Achtung! Tiefraummanöver! Es gilt Anschnallpflicht für alle Passagiere! Lose Gegenstände befestigen und sichern! Achtung! 10 Minuten bis zur Zündung!"

Sadly I lack the right voice and dialect to give this sentence the proper sound.

Dan, can you please make also a slingshot scenario (with a probe drop maybe durring slingshot maneuver).
Can you, please, make the stupid Probe's son a little smarter, at least to try to hit some coordinates even if it misses.

Well about "neutral language"

Neutral mean nothing really specific, you know like lift music... It mean not a too pronounced accent, a big laugh, a funny joke or a crazy tone.

The reason is that everything funny or really special will only be boring after a while and not add the "being there" feeling. A pirate tone or a funny joke will only be funny the 3-4 first time, after it will completely spoil the effect.

So, serious, concentrated and neutral, pilot doing his job while travelling in deeps space aboard a billion dollar ship.

That does make all good sense. Especially if the main goal here is immersion.

and I would hazard a guess and say the Arrow costs a bit more than a billion. More like Trillion, I would think.

Stop right there. No need to finish that thought. Moving on.

Why not finish the thought? Ok, yeah, sure, we all know what Pipcard's going to suggest. But then again, it might not be the one that seems to be implied. There are at least 8 others I can think of right off the top of my head. And at least 1 or 2 of them have the right type of voice and can do only lightly accented english if set up right.

I thought it was a joke, so I was jumping in and having some fun.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was at least partially trying to play off the joke while adding a bit more info. I guess my tone came off differently than I intended it too.

awh, you mean I screwed up the joke? blast it.
Why is this the conversation that always seems to happen after someone tries to make a joke here.

In any case, the WAV files can be replaced with gag ones in a future pack anyone could compile. Even ones by certain English-failing pop-idol-softwares. :shifty:

I think I have a neutral-enough NA accent (no weird lisps, no impulsive "Eh?!" after every other sentence...) and a fair microphone. Will give this a shot.

Edit: Or a certain relative sold the microphone in question, leaving me with nothing worth mentioning. Sorry.

I could manage something. Good mic, soundcard, software, and the "Midwestern Accent" that is often referred to as "no accent", etc. Assuming I can find my XLR - 1/4 plug adapter.

I would suggest a slightly topheavy EQ (ie, not much bass, lots of mids and highs - slightly "tinny" to emulate the tiny, cheap speakers in airplanes, etc. I could also add that bit of static when the pilot keys his mic ...

Send me a PM with the scripts and file requirements (codec, sample rate and bit size, etc) and I could have something later this week or early next week.

Wouldn't take much time, so even if you decided not to use them I wouldn't be that upset!

I do something similar on the EAS Cortez when in the interior view and the rotating crew section starts/stops.

"Attention all personnel. Crew module rotation has been initiated. Prepare for Earth-gravity operations."

"Attention all personnel. Shutdown of crew module rotation has been initiated. Prepare for low-gravity operations."

Both done with my voice. I used the open-source software Audacity to add echo and lower the pitch.

HOW IT WORK
-----------------------

This is how the "secure ship" mode work.

When you press the button there is several actions:
  1. One main announcment say to "secure the ship fasten belt and lock door" (different voices with some variations on this theme)
  2. During all the secure process I'll play random doors, fasten belt effect (light & realist, most would sound very far).
  3. All open doors & lift stow automatically.
  4. All operation on doors & lift & eva are forbidden with a message.

So this is not only cosmetic. In a future version I may do wounds and other damages if G when not in secure mode.

Here the button, status message and notice the new fasten sign on the left:

Here we start to secure the ship, duration is less than one minute, notice the fasten sign is lighten.

Doors close, operations are forbidden:

The sign is really readable of course, else how the crew would notice ? uh ? So what !!! (Poor Dan start to mix reality and fantasm, he also speak about him at the third person

that's weird !... too much work !)

ABOUT VOICES
----------------

I have yet 4 proposals, enough to make 10 different announcements at least so this should be sufficient.

Much thanks to all.

Does it mean that it will be possible to manage food and trash like UCGO ISS?
:hailprobe:

Maybe for a next version. Not yet.
