It doesn't look bad. It's a pretty awesome image, actually. It's just not the Blue Marble 2. :P
 
It really is very nice eye candy, it's just not either very accurate nor a true one shot pic of Earth. I look forward to the day that a true Blue Marble 2 pic is taken...

I think that I read somewhere that the stripes are reflections of the Sun in the water. Because of that it is a montage of more photos, they appear more times.

But still, I think that it is a pretty bad job by the photo team to not edit away those stripes. I'll bet that they also appeared on the first picture over North America, but that they then removed them digitaly...

If you were looking at the Arctic edition, you need to move it ASAP to a warmer climate.
If you were looking at the window...forget the car, you got a DG.
