Hey everyone, I have some news to share.

A day and a half ago, David had another operation on the right lung due to an infection on one of the lobes.
Everything went well and he is recovering right now at the hospital. Here is a quick summary and update from himself:

The bottom line is that the middle lobe on the right side had to be removed because of the bronchial tube did not heal properly. That lobe was infected, and since the bronchial tube was completely "walled off" (due to the way it healed), there was no way to cough up germs. The doctor said it would have likely infected the rest of the lung and possibly the other side as well. The good news is that the middle lobe is the smallest, so in terms of lung function, he said I won't lose much. And it wasn't working anyway because it was walled off.

The recovery seems to have started well and they have just removed the drain tubes from him, which I imagine were a cause for some major discomfort.

David is in good spirit as always, and has his tablet with him, so feel free to drop in a word for him to read.

@David, my very best wishes for a speedy and as painless as possible recovery. Sorry you 've had to go through this again, but the good thing is that the infected part (which wasn't working anyway) is now off.

Hi David!
I'm sorry to read you had problems, but very glad to read you are recovering well and fast!
Keep up the spirit and come back soooooooooooooooon! We miss you.

:hail: Surgeon

Best wishes for quick recovery

Sometimes a step back is a step in the right direction. While recovery from an operation is bad I hope you turn out better and can reach the point where you don't remember when you've been operated the last time.

Get well soon!

Get well David, we're all praying for you. :salute:

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Happy to report that they are already letting me go home. Figured I would be here through the weekend, but it looks like I'll be getting out of here today. Which is great because I have an XR2 waiting in orbit when I get home.

A couple more scars to add to the collection.

Always wear your battle scars with pride, my friend.

Lots of respect for you man. I wish the best for you.

I don't think it's bravery. It's a tenacity for living.

Yikes. Those are some big tubes... I wish you a fast recovering!
