2014 World Cup

France might go without Frank Ribéry. It was our only chance to be decent, unfortunately ...

Stars just keep getting dropped out one after another, I wonder who's next:facepalm:

The German Marco Reus got badly injured in the final test match yesterday and will very likely miss the tournament.

The US got a good win over Nigeria today, with Jozy Altidore breaking a scoring cold snap with two nice goals.

Highlights from the aforementioned game. The size, and enthusiasm of that crowd illustrates rather well how large soccer is getting around the country.

In germany, people at least don't take ridiculously overpriced consumer loans to buy their new TVs. Private debt in Bosnia is probably going to double. Who can takes a loan to fly to Brazil. Who can't takes a loan to buy a larger TV set. People will be selling land titles and houses to get over there...

A good occassion to cheaply purchase some quality real estate...

A full-European final in american soil? This will not going to happen :P

I agree - should Argentina ever get this far in the world cup, they would win against the Netherlands.

The important question is: How will Brazil play today?

Should they fail to win, things will get wild.

1:1 I guess - even without Mario Mandzukic Croatia is a well known formidable all-rounded team, and I guess when facing the group's strongest opponent, both teams would be playing defensively. So here you go. :tiphat:

Well, they also have Olic, who is currently in a great shape here in Wolfsburg. Had been our best attacker. And Perisic was also a very good player in the last season.

Brazil wins all group stage matches, IMO. Thereafter I don't know, the eighth-finals will be very tough.

The opening ceremony starts in a while.

Well, you know. Its Brazil. When it is impossible to lose a game - they will make it. Especially, because it is all about Neymar... a very gifted player, with the tendency to forget this from time to time.

We usually do this in advanced stages, like in 1950, 1982 and 1990.

Meanwhile...

Great save by Alexander Gerst aboard ISS ! If Germany can keep that form on the ground too they will be a very unwelcome opponent =))

I am not entirely sure what to make of today's game, so much is in the air  But I expect a draw. Also that would make the coming games very interesting ( to a neutral viewer like myself ). In any case I wish for a great match and a great tournament as well, good luck all teams !

Wow... three players of my local club VfL Wolfsburg on the pitch...

Olic, Perisic and Gustavo...

Here we go :)
