The Towering Inferno Apollo 13 (got me into spaceflight in the first place) Silver Streak (1970's train film) these are my fav's. Could watch them again and again.

    Is Space flight worth it?

Love the points being made here. I am completely in favor of space exploration and yes, cost-wise, it is worth it. Fix me if I'm wrong, but I recall that the Ares 1-X flight cost 460 million. Fairly cheap compared to the U.S. Gov'ts other endeavours. A space shuttle flight costs ~1-3 billion...

    Tell us about yourself!

Hi all! I'm Ian from Atlanta, USA. Age 17 and currently a junior in high school. Looking to apply to Georgia Tech or Auburn and study aerospace engineering (if anyone has suggestions/recommendations/tips, do send me a message). I've been into sims since I was young, and have been orbiting for...

    Tour De France 2008

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone on the forums shares an interest in cycling as well as Orbiter. Yes, the Tour finished a few weeks ago, but it would be great if everyone would express their thoughts about this year's race. In my opinion, quite a clean one on the drug front from 2007, only...

I finally did a DGIV reentry!

I agree with Markl316, its always a great feeling to land the ship, as it was for me. After many failures and four-letter words, I finally landed a DGIV a few weeks ago. Now it is like riding a bike

    Orbiter on Vista

I have a problem with Vista and orbiter. Some of my ships, when in external view, only show movable control surfaces (i.e. i see a space shuttle with only doors and gear) but on others it is just fine. Any tips on how to fix this will be appreciated. with all my ram and videocard stuff, load...

    Idea Delta Glider V Ideas?

I would definitely like to see an extra MFD or two, perhaps on the lower panel? I think only 3 would do because screen real estate will be a squeeze.

You know you're addicted to Orbiter when...

You are truly addicted to Orbiter when you re-create New Horizons to Pluto. In real time. I once did a real-time "mission" in the DG IV once. One orbit around the Earth. my experiment was the effects of Sodium Bicarbonate in vinegar, food was a tin of tuna fish. Drinks were water in plastic...

    Funny ooops moments

perhaps as an add-on? That would be cool. I also committed a huge "d'oh!" moment today. Went in a DGIV. Wasn't thinking. Took off. Forgot to close the nosecone. :@:censored::@

    The moon hoax.

In retrospect, Tranquility doesn't have much useful with regards to what NASA wants to do. Orion will focus on the polar regions.

    The Price for Space Travel

Sorry if the title is a bit misleading, but I can"t think of a good one for my question: If NASA offered you the chance to go into Earth orbit, walk on the Moon and/or be the FIRST to walk on Mars, but you will not be able to return home to Earth. Sadly, you will have to die on the surface or in...

    The moon hoax.

From what I gather, it was regular cloth lined over aluminum foil, which makes it look "crinkly" in photos. And of course, since there is no air on the moon, they added a small pole at the top to hold the flag straight. And then they added a table fan to simulate wind....not  It would be...

    No More Windows XP?

I finally made the switch to Vista a few weeks ago...or was it one month? Anyway, everything seems to be going...well. I'm actually a bit nervous because of that fact. Nothing has gone wrong, except Orbiter and Vista hate each other like brothers, but one of my copies of Orbiter still works...

One time I was bringing in good ole' Columbia in at KSC 33. Perfect vertical speed, centreline and all that, but as I brought the nosewheel down one of my main wheels lifted up and I went for an unexpected tour of the shrubbery around the runway. not a good sight
