Hey guys, i noticed its the 29th annivasory since Skylab reentered the earths atmosphere.
We miss you Skylab:cheers:
It reentered near Perth, Australia, sadly it missed Perth, everyone survived. They still happen to beat my favorite team in Footy.:@

Skylab was truly a pretty interesting bunch of missions. It's a shame that the Shuttle never got to it. I would have loved to see a re-boost mission launched sometime in 76 or 77. It would have jump-started alot of what we are doing on the ISS today!

One question. If the shuttle had gone to Skylab. How would they have docked? The current airlock system wasn't there until the '90s. I believe I've seen concepts of shuttle docking to skylab and other space-station models where the shuttle uses the round side-door. Does anyone else know? How would this work?

Skylab > Going to the Moon.

Disagree? Take it up with Pete Conrad when you see him at the Pearly Gates.

Definitely disagree. The moon missions, and specifically the Saturn V was the most increadible device ever built by man. It's closely followed by the shuttle. The number of new tech that was spurred by the moon landings was necessary for the landing to happen.

After the damage to Skylab, the job that was done by astronauts and engineers to get the darn thing livable was amazing, though.

I'm not saying the Moon landings weren't great, they were. But Skylab was a better experience I think.

That's because people like Pete Conrad put sweat and blood into keeping her alive.

If you ever get a chance, read the book Rocketman...
