Local Space Transportation System Redux

So, what you're saying is, it won't be released until Tuesday.

That is in fact the current release date ;)

Could it be possible to have a camera view inside the passenger module, so you can see the passengers and look through windows??

Yes -- the passenger module will be a separate SC3 vessel, so there will be an internal camera viewpoint.

I don't usually bump topics like this, but I was wondering if there had been any updates to the development of the new vessel? I have to apologize for my eagerness, it is looking fantastic from what I've seen!

Yes -- unfortunately the progress has been very inconsistent. One of the biggest and most complicated cases I've ever had has been in "climax mode" for quite a few weeks, and this has involved a lot of international travel, court time and, well, all that stuff that I actually get paid to do :@

But there has been some progress. I'll try to post some pics later this weekend. Thanks for your interest!

Getting paid is overrated, Greg. ;) But yes, I sadly understand the pressures and time constraints of a high-stress job. I will just look forward to that Tuesday when it comes out and I can take her for a spin!

As promised, here's a pic showing I AM making progress, albeit slowly:

As always, feedback here will be greatly appreciated, especially from "early adopters" regarding download package completeness and frame rates.

Looks brilliant

Are we going to see this Ground Transport Unit ;)

Yep. Within the next 1-3 addons. I'm trying to make everything really fit together in a modular way, so I need to be careful about the development pathway. Thus the uncertainty.

Oops - on "LSTS2204 HL 04.scn" I'm getting

**** WARNING: Mesh not found: .\Meshes\.msh
>>> ERROR: No vessel class configuration file found for:
>>> ERROR: BM212
>>> [C:\Source\Orbiter\Vessel.cpp / 248]
>>> TERMINATING <<<

What's missing?

It's a dependency I failed to notice and note in the documentation. That's a module from the Space Station Building Blocks 4.1 addon. Sorry.

Awesome! Greg, you are truly incredible. Thank you! :)

Any idea as to what we can expect next? I'm sure I'm jumping the gun, I simply love your work. :)

Framerate is normal for me.

It would be nice to have a 'Complete' System in place with SSBB, SP, BSP, SSS and LSTS201

EDIT: I have found a mesh error with PROMETHEUS and DAEDALUS. The rear crew section doesn't appear to be closed off unlike GILGAMESH which has a window

Looks great! Flies even better!

I wonder why you don't put transponders or IDS on your craft.

The Heinlein base's LPads have frequencies that can't be dialed into the ComMFD.

Great job!!!:cheers:
Looking forward to the remake of a cool system.

Feedback time,

Awesome addon Greg. I really appreciate that you've listened to those of us concerned with fps issues and your massive addons this time. On my Tecra laptop, I'm running about 7 fps with your high res modules, and nearly 50 fps with the low res variants.

Outstanding work with your animations, and with the way the modules handle 'in-flight' (what's a better term here since we're not dealing with atmosphere?). They don't handle like sports cars, but don't handle like semi's either.

What really stands out to me with this package is the logic behind the design. I spent some time panning the modules and was really struck by how it all makes sense visually. A very excellent blend of utilitarian design with space age coolness.

You've raised the bar again with this addition, and on behalf of those in agreement with me - Thank you!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm especially glad to hear that the lower-poly meshes are yielding good frame rates. I'll look into the issue about the mesh issues on the Gilgamesh ships soon.

Meanwhile, next up, the heavy lander (early progress pic):
