I have a feeling it's a Blackburn Buccaneer. The Buccaneer had folding wings and a T-tail, and the aircraft in the picture resembles it closely, especially in regards to the 'pod' aft of the tail (this pod splits in two to form an airbrake), and it also has (roughly) the colouration that is shared with this Bucaneer at the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_National_Museum_of_Military_History"]South African National Museum of Military History[/ame] (pretty awesome museum- has an exhibit of an Me-262- a rare night fighting variant, nontheless. Not something you would typically expect to find in a third-world nation).
It also (somewhat) matches the dimensions of the Buccaneer, but where the aircraft stops and the tarmac begins is pretty difficult to define.
The Buccaneer was in service in the South African Air Force from 1965 to 1991, and a total of 15 aircraft entered service.
is that not [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunder_City"]Thunder City?[/ame] - where mr. Mike Beachy Head offers commercial joyrides on his collection of jet fighters?
it makes sense to be a buccaneer then - mr. Head has 3 of them there, i think... could one of them have been dismantled or under maintenance at the time of that photo?
it also seems Thunder City has suspended operations since sep. 2010... too bad... i had plans to go for a jet ride whenever i became an eccentric millionarie
Yes, one of my tasks when I get rich...Thunder City used to pop up in the various flying mags I buy, wondered why it had gone quiet. Shame if its on hard times, was looking forward to a Lightning trip.
