Humor World Cup 2010

The encounter between Ghana and Uruguay promises to be beautiful too.
So does Argentina-Mexico tomorrow. Should be an open match and Mexico might be able to give Messi and company some headaches. Also, watching Messi create space and chances is, in itself, a thing of beauty. Brazil-Chile will be the only game we can be sure that a South American team is going home, so their dominance so far cannot be ignored.

I'm really looking forward to a potential Netherlands-Brazil quaterfinal as being a huge clash of styles with lots going on. Lots of things to be excited about still.

The octopus, which was born in the UK and was moved to the German aquarium, has become a national celebrity after correctly predicting Germany would beat Australia in their opening match, then lose to Serbia, and then beat Ghana.

Looks like he left England for the money, girls, and fame. Not sure if he can be trusted.

Oh dear, well at least all the dinners get a leg...

Okay, come on England, let's beat Germany (sorry Urwumpe - but we're going to win)!

You know the old saying:

"Soccer is a game for 22 people that run around, play the ball, and one referee who makes a slew of mistakes, and in the end Germany always wins." Gary Lineker

Soccer is that much uninteresting to me that I won't even watch the upcoming game (and instead fly with my Carenado Cessna 152 in MS FS2004) :P But the streets will be very empty and silent though :) In this regard world championship could be every day. So even soccer has something good in it:cheers:

No no, that only happens when the referee is German! :P

Anyway, we shall soon see! ;)

It should be an interesting game. I want to go out for a walk to enjoy the nice hot weather, but I also want to watch the game. Tough decision!

Exactly, and this should be settled on the pitch.

A 4:1, that was much closer than it sounds. Could also have easily been a 4:3 or worse.

Pathetic display display by England, I only saw the second-haf though...

Eh, from what I saw Germany were the better team, and yet again we deserved the defeat as much as our opponents deserved their victory.

Cycle will now restart; England team return home in ignominy; Manager and players hold endless strings of TV interviews explaining what went wrong and how it'll all be fine in the next Euro tournament in two years time; England choose a new manager; Manager chooses new squad; Hype for next tournament begins in earnest; Nation comes to believe the team will win; Team crash out of tournament after variable success but never victory beyond semi-final level; Rinse and repeat.

It's just our way.

I'm sick as a parrot.

I think you're far too kind to the England team... I didn't see the game but 4:1? ouch. anyway, sounds like it was an entertaining game & congrats on the win!:tiphat:

It's amazing how the English public and even yellow press takes it in objectively.

Daily Mirror: "We could dwell on the disallowed 'goal' all day - revenge for '66, proof that Sepp Blatter is criminally insane for his downer on goal-line technology etc etc - but the sad truth of the matter is that England were outplayed and outfought by a younger, better organised and more skillful team. "

Or the Sun:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3031836/They-think-its-four-over.html

(Check the video).

And most surprisingly, The Sun Poll: "Do you want Germany to go on and win the World Cup?" - 71% Yes

Really?

I must say, Kudos to the English Fans and Media, for once no unadequate insults, etc. I did not expect this.

With the disallowed goal... I really hope this ends the Wembley Curse for England and I really hope they will be serious contenders in Euro 2012 (although i somhow doubt it... ;/)

Ugh, I'm still recovering from that awful match. I agree that we were awful - Germany were by far the better side. However, I think we were robbed of that second goal by the ref - the ball was clearly across the line. The final score should have been 4-2.

At least we stayed in longer than the USA!

Anyway, congratulations Urwumpe – you were right & I was wrong.
But, we will get you next time!
