Space Shuttle Ultra development thread

Great! Seems like the only major thing to support is pulling a few MCA CBs. Also, could you restore proper animations of the A7L switches and buttons? Donamy checked in updated meshes for it and A6L which unfortunately broke the A7L animations.

Well, not today... I will be off for holidays soon, I don't think I will do that before the new year. Would require a meshc run and the CBs are currently not important as we have not even MCAs ;)

I wanted to add them when we have power system simulation, but I need more research on them first.

Noticed two small issues. One is that the OMS pods could need something of a shape update. The other one is the SSME gimbal angle prior to launch.

Attached two images, one is of the aft of Discovery prior to STS-103 in Dec. 1999 and one is a screenshot of the SSU orbiter aft taken from a very similar angle.
Notice the two issues outlined above?

Checked in new Orbiter.msh with above suggestions implimented. Rear RCS jets need new exhaust alignment positions.

Can you get a list of the new positions?

Would be nice if we could check the RCS positions against their positions inside the scaled NASA drawings, but I don't know how accurate these really are.

I can get the positions for the model from the mesh, where could I get the exact angle info from, because I believe they are specific for LOW Z thrusting.

Nice fixing of the OMS pod shape issue! Now we just need someone to alter the prelaunch angles of the SSMEs. Prelaunch they're pretty almost pure vertical. They're moved to the ignition(current) positions as part of the SSME TVC check at T-3:30. Then at T-0:03 engines 2 and 3 are moved closer toghether where they are left until lift-off.

You mean moding the actuators from gravity position to Ignition?

Yes. Then we pretty much got all the terminal count animations done if we add the aerosurface check at T-3:50 as well.

Well, would be nice if we could also have some call-outs implemented. But the amount of stuff, which keeps us from a release is now almost gone, right?

There are a few nit pic items.

1. wiggle at roll manuever and alittle slow

2. smoke from SRBs cutoff too soon and they dont rotate.

3. loss of VC view at stagings

Guys, great job btw on all the hard work you have put into this, your even spending time on the week of Christmas to do it. We all appreciate it.

Don't have #3 here. You're not using CamShake are you? I believe that was found to be reason of similar bugs in other add-ons.

That was it. Scratch #3, but add the pad lights don't turn off at sunrise. :(

Well, they do but it's at a certain solar angle. For STS-119 this angle is well after T0.

I'll take your word for it. :)

Can we get SSME stow on orbit, after ET door close, please.

Early SSME flame attempt.

:speakcool:WOW, that looks great Donamy!!! :speakcool:Perhaps with a little less red flares it would look even better!
I would like to define the SSME exhaust as a function of engine throttle and altitude: reddish below 40 or 50% pc, blue/transparent above that, thin and defined at sea level, wide and "all over the place" in vaccum... but I still have a lot of work to do before I get there....
BTW: I'm not dead, I'm trying to make the 2-string engine controller (and it's components), and now the tricky part, so it works with the different number of sensors and sensor locations of the several engine "versions"... The good news is that it's almost done.
Also, about the MPS power switches on panel R2, I'm going to connect to them using the disc signals, and looking thru the files there's a standard switch class already with the disc port. But that class isn't used on R2... and given that I don't know a thing about panels, could someone make the upgrade, or tell me how to do it? Thanks!

checked in new Orbiter.msh and OBSS.msh to fix shading problem.
