Thanks, it was the MER-Rovers (Opportunity and Spirit) in a video made by Maas Digital for JPL-NASA, I expropriated bits of that and other NASA films.

HOLY FRAK! Moon transits Earth! | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine

First, the setup. The Deep Impact spacecraft was the one that smacked a chunk of copper into a comet so that we could see what materials were below the surface. After the impact, the spacecraft kept going (with the mission renamed EPOXI), and it’s being used to do all sorts of interesting observations.
In late May, 2008, it turned its cameras back to Earth and observed us over the course of a several hours. During this time, from EPOXI’s point of view, the Moon passed directly in front of the Earth! The images were put together (by my old boss, Don Lindler!) into, well, one of the most astonishing animations I have ever watched. Ever.

I don't if this one has posted already or not, but this one is a must see and listen video:

Very cool Dave. Anyone know what that howling noise is just before the F1's ignite? I'm thinking water suppression system, but perhaps its the turbopumps spinning up?

I wondered about that too. Could be both. The water isn't used for sound suppression but for cooling of the flame deflector in the test stand.

Nice one johnston and kudos to Mr Lindler. Very impressive vid.

I've been busy with vids this weekend, and I'd like to share my latest with you

First, The Moon (incorporating the above), music Aphex Twin

Second, Spitfire, music Prodigy

Third, Soul Soldiers (Black soldiers in Vietnam), music Marvin Gaye

Hope you enjoy them

Looked quickly through the thread, didn't see this, but apologies if it was already posted:

It reminds me of when The Goodies went to the moon - spectacular.

This is why Britain never had a space programme, by the way.

Happy 60th Birthday, Otto!

Memorable words right out of the cold war.

Happy Birthday to the actor Götz George for his 70th!

This is also great (Tanner and Schimanski was the best Tatort-team I think):

Götz George is the greatest German actor in my point of view.

Exactly 10 years ago in summer 1998 I had the chance to watch shooting of two new "Schimanski" just next door. I was even able to watch it from my garden which was awesome. One episode was called "Geschwister" and the other one "Rattennest". If you watch it you would think he visits his girlfriend in Belgium. But he's not. It's in Essen (Baldeneysee) ;)

I'll never forget these two days...

Here's a beauty (stock footage is probably not new but the music is nice):

I almost can't believe we built and flew machines like this. It's high time we do it again.

EDIT:

Here's another beauty:

If we're going to go into German humor, here's a few videos I saw in my German media class at college this past semester.

The guy might do better if he forgot the word "Komisch" and learned to say "Versicherungsbetrug."

[EDIT]: Not being a native German speaker, I'm not too familiar with regional accents, but some of his "i"'s sound more like "e"'s (e.g. "Birgit" and ""Wirklich" sound like "Bergit" and "Werklich"). According to Wikipedia he's from Switzerland. Is that typical of Swiss accents?[/EDIT]

Man, I was snooping around on youtube and somehow got into soccer videos, and this one brings back memories. I was in Europe for a month in summer of '06, and we saw a number of the World Cup games at the Olympiapark in Munich (in fact, the part of our trip that was in Germany was organized around this, but I went more because I really wanted to go to Germany than for the games). I probably walked by within 30 feet or so of where this was being filmed, towards the end or shortly after the end of this video, as we were on our way out of the park. I definitely remember the fireworks and the German national anthem, although I'd forgotten that Ode to Joy had been the song playing during the fireworks (I'd thought it had been the national anthem, which in fact was after the fireworks).

They are finally where they belong...

Linguofreak: Actually, it is not only Ode to Joy (which, in a instrumental version, is also the anthem of the European Union), but also "Oh Fortuna" from "Carmina Burana" in the video (around 4:00).
