Recently, I hooked on Kulch's Universal Cargo to the XR5.
Now all I hear is Sally Beaumont saying,

Warning; Docking Port is Closed
Warning; Docking Port is Closed
Warning; Docking Port is Closed

OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I suppose i could remove the sound clip from the sounds directory, but then I might forget to open the docking port when docking with the ISS. Also the error message would still show up on the HUD over and over again.

(I also tried associating the Universal Cargo to XR5_Payload Bay instead of to just the regular XR5; same thing).

I keep getting the same problem as Piet, even using the UCDcarrier...

Its kind of annoying , any help?

When I made the UCD carrier, I never intended for it to be able to solve that particular problem, just the CoG issues. I removed that callout, and just remember to open the docking port. After all, it's not the kind of mistake you make more than once! And about the message on the Secondary HUD, it only appears once between other messages, so it doesn't scroll other things off the top. It's just like the Secondary HUD is only half as tall.

What happens is that if the Vanguard's docking port is closed the Vanguard scans for other vessels that meet all of the following criteria:

1. The vessel has a docking port.
2. The vessel's docking port is less than 100 meters away from the Vanguard's docking port.
3. The vessel is not latched in the Vanguard's payload bay.
4. At least one of the Vanguard's four NAV radios is tuned to that vessel's IDS or XPDR frequency.

If all four of these conditions are met for a given vessel, the computer shows the docking port is closed warning. When using Universal Cargo, the payload in the bay is the Universal Cargo vessel, and so any vessels that are attached to that vessel appear to the Vanguard to be external vessels.

However, notice the line in bold: you should be able to prevent the warning callouts simply by ensuring that all four of your NAV radios are not tuned to any IDS or XPDR frequency used by any vessels attached to the Universal Cargo module. Then the Vanguard will ignore them no matter how close they get, since none of your NAV radios will be tuned to them.

Also, note that there shoud be no CoG changes at all when carrying payload in the Vanguard's bay: payload mass is assumed to be "balanced" no matter how the payload is shaped or which slot it is in. In other words, carrying payload will increase your ship's mass but won't affect its balance or center-of-gravity in any way. This is by design so that the attitude hold autopilot will remain as stable as possible even when carrying heavy payload.

Oh... I suspected it was something like this. Now I feel a little dumb for not having figured out :P because it was very logic.

Thanks (again, and again) for your excellent add-ons, and the troubleshooting you provide
