What is your descent or ethicnicity?

Italian-Italian-Italian-Greek.But 100% Red-blooded American. And thoroughly ashamed at what my government is doing to the rest of the world.Love my country--Hate my government!OH... and by the way....I already called dibbs on Summer Glau so you can't have her! But since were talking about clones here i guess you could have your own copy too.See I can be generous.Maybe I'll take Jennifer Aniston-Before the anorexia.Or even Jennifer Love Hewitt.Any time.

Welsh for the most part, but I also have some others from my mothers side, French, Scottish, and even a little bit of Native Canadian (Mi'kmaq).

Probably boils down to 70% German and 30% Irish.

Yeah, I'm whitey.

Father: German ancestry, although I'm not quite sure where from. According to the records we have, my Great-Grandfather just appeared one day. I think its somewhere around the Austrian border though.

Mother: Polish, Hungarian, a little German, and Norwegian.

Unfortunately, I dont have much info on my ancestry. My mother tried tracing our Family tree, but we cant go any further due to missing, or lack of information.

German and Russian, though I'm not sure which side of the family corresponds to which. I also suspect there are other ethnicities in there somewhere...

60,000 years ago I came from the same african tribe that gave birth to our current human race. So I belong to the same ethnicity of yours. Genographic Project says so.

The only differences that you may think between you and me are merely mutations, like color of skin or height (which does not deserve such a big word as "race"), as well as differences in geographic origin using a political scheme of countries that was not the standard neither 60,000 years ago, neither 2,000 years go, when none of current countries existed.

I have been told that my early ancestors came from Mars, and life on Earth was grown.

That is if you want to think of it that way into a technical perspective.

Right on AR81! We are human... mostly... Anyway, my geographic heritage is Scotts-Irish, like many here in Tennesse (the migration on northerners does not count). There is also a slight mix of pre WWII German.
Now about these clones, (mmmmm Scarlett Johansson) can we get a Catherine Zeta Jones model as well?

I don't really know much for my father's side (he is Polish as are his parents), but on my mother's side things are like this:
Grandmother - From Lwow, Poland (now Lviv, Ukraine), would that make her a Galician?
Grandfather - From Krakow, Poland, got put in jail in the 80s for not being a communist and joining Solidarity.

I have a huge Geneological tree diagram (back to the 18th century) of my family, but it's in Poland right now.

Like I said, I don't know much about my background. So I might not be human...so I'll have the roast duck with the mango salsa, please.

German, it seems a lot of Germans ended up in Texas. :)

Why bore so deep? Just about 5 or 4 thousand years ago all you the White Guys have come from the Great Steppe:

... and I've come from exactly the same spot only 32 years ago.

Russia is the native land of elefants!

In the 1800's many Germans and Irish immigrated towards the midwest. That is why I come from Kansas. My father was German and his family moved there and established a community. The Wedel family.

No idea, but probably Angles and Saxons with a bit of Norman Viking thrown in. I don't think my ancestors moved about much. Lazy bunch.

N.

My family (both sides) came from the south of England some 100-150 years ago. That's about all I know. They weren't convicts AFAIK :P

Well, I came from home to work and then back home.
Does it say anything about my home ethnicity?
I seem to spot some periodical migrations of my ethnicity in that matter every day...

ar81 is correct in that ethnicity and descent is somewhat arbitrary as it really depends on how far back you go. I think most people only go back a few generations though, which is fair enough.

In that case, I am Welsh born, to parents who were both born in England to one Welsh and one English parent (each - the stories you hear about the Welsh aren't true... ;o) ) but both lived in Wales all their lives. So, I am perhaps 50% English, but 100% Welsh! I could qualify to play rugby for either England or Wales. But would always choose Wales. (Just a shame I'm not good enough and far too old to take up rugby now!)

Ah, yes.

You are aware that homo sapiens sapiens is according to real science 200,000 years old? The Genographic Project suffers from many cargo cult science problems, especially they have a strong believe in the accuracy of DNA markers, without really understanding them (With markers alone, I can't prove with certainty, who is your grand-grandfather - and often only with some uncertainty, who is your parent). Also I can't find anything on their website that they use mitochondrial DNA as input, which is just strange as this special DNA gives a much stronger indication of ancestry over many generations.

Also, you mix up ethnicity (which is rather a result of culture than of genetics) with species. And did I mention that we still have no scientific definition of species?

From wikipedia:
An ethnic group is a group of human beings whose members identify with each other, through a common heritage that is real or presumed.

And to make things clear: I don't identify with you through a common heritage that is real or presumed. :P
