Question What are you reading?

Weapons of choice by John Birmingham
good for those who like alternate ww2 stuff

Working my way through 2010: Odyssey Two at the moment.

James L. Helperin - The first immortal

Free Software, Free society - A collection of essays by Richard M. Stallman

I just finished Patrick O'Brien's "The Thirteen Gun Salute". Taking a break before the next Aubrey/Maturin adventure with "The Time Travellers Wife".

Battle on Atlantic.

Stumbled upon Ender's Game this weekend and decided to give it another read. Arguably one of my favorites.

Alternating between Moonrise by Ben Bova and The Family by Jeff Sharlet.

Just finished Contact by Carl Sagan. Like anything else he's touched, it's golden

Now on to Foundation...

The other day I was waiting for a carpool friend in the parking lot of a library. I wandered into the library to use the facilities, and on the way out I noticed they were selling books they no longer wanted to stock. Two of them caught my eye, memories from my childhood:

I had the "Spacecraft" book growing up, and I think a high school buddy still has it, though I've not seen it in years. These are out of print of course, and the public library, as stupid as any other public institution, was trying to rid itself of these great sci fi art books.

At $6 a pop I couldn't resist; they are both in good shape and now reside in a much better home. The Spacewreck one is full of wild creepy stories about radiactive alien derelict ships on the edge of nowhere.

And they are both full of add-on ideas, of course!

couple months ago I finished Enders game by Orson Scott Card
it's my favorite book so far and i read alot

Anything by Ben Bova is great (just my opinion)... Hey Kid Gagarin, have you read Ender's Shadow? The same story from Bean's perspective. Also very, very good.

Currently reading some historical fiction, "The Scourge of God" by William Dietrich. Roman vs. Hun, pretty good so far.

I have read most of his books, but I haven't read that one yet.

I am currently reading Hydrodynamica by Daniel Bernoulli

The Capricorn Quadrant by Charles Ryan.

My favorite bad technothriller, everything from a very small Big Bang (Radius 270m) to sharks with:

Wait! Is it the one with the Russian stealth bomber equipped with a cold-fusion DEW and a genius-level AI with a hot temper and a hair trigger?

Or collide Proton masses at the speed of light!!! :hide:
