I just finished Patrick O'Brien's "The Thirteen Gun Salute". Taking a break before the next Aubrey/Maturin adventure with "The Time Travellers Wife".

Stumbled upon Ender's Game this weekend and decided to give it another read. Arguably one of my favorites.

The other day I was waiting for a carpool friend in the parking lot of a library. I wandered into the library to use the facilities, and on the way out I noticed they were selling books they no longer wanted to stock. Two of them caught my eye, memories from my childhood:

I had the "Spacecraft" book growing up, and I think a high school buddy still has it, though I've not seen it in years. These are out of print of course, and the public library, as stupid as any other public institution, was trying to rid itself of these great sci fi art books.

At $6 a pop I couldn't resist; they are both in good shape and now reside in a much better home. The Spacewreck one is full of wild creepy stories about radiactive alien derelict ships on the edge of nowhere.

And they are both full of add-on ideas, of course!

Anything by Ben Bova is great (just my opinion)... Hey Kid Gagarin, have you read Ender's Shadow? The same story from Bean's perspective. Also very, very good.

Currently reading some historical fiction, "The Scourge of God" by William Dietrich. Roman vs. Hun, pretty good so far.

I have read most of his books, but I haven't read that one yet.

I am currently reading Hydrodynamica by Daniel Bernoulli

The Capricorn Quadrant by Charles Ryan.

My favorite bad technothriller, everything from a very small Big Bang (Radius 270m) to sharks with:

The Capricorn Quadrant said:

ASSESSMENT: DANGEROUS (PRIORITY 11)
CMR: DESTROY

Wait! Is it the one with the Russian stealth bomber equipped with a cold-fusion DEW and a genius-level AI with a hot temper and a hair trigger?

A-w-e-some. Never piss off a marine biologist!

Or collide Proton masses at the speed of light!!! :hide:

Now, if anyone can tell me where/what this is: (Aside from a figment of the authors imagination that is)
